Can't find thermostat housing and how do I change

By the oil filter upper side, remove 2 nuts and presto, YOU got to really carefully because some of the inverter coolant will be drain in the process, refill both radiator and inverter reservoir, run car for half hour stop car wait an hour until gets call and refill again, do this procedure one more time. Dealer guys do not have to do this procedure because they bleed with the scanner activating electrical water pumps. I change the oil on

A 2002 Prius does not have an oil change indicator. And it doesn't have a power button either, so the first "solution" is wrong.

If the engine light is on, make sure that the new oil didn't leak out due to a loose drain plug, or loose filter. (It's unlikely that it would leak out of the top, but make sure the filler cap is secure too.) If the oil level is OK (check the dipstick) then your problem lies elsewhere.

How do I bleed the brakes?

I will explain it to you the best way i know how..take the cap off of the master cylender, make sure its full of fluid, leave cap off, get a partner. when you bleed brakes you always start at the wheel farthest away from the master cylender and work your way to it, so start at the rear passengers wheel, have your partner pump the brake pedal 12 or so times, and hold pressure against it ( TELL THEM NOT TO LET UP, UNTIL YOU TELL THEM) crack the bleed plug, let air/fluid out, re snug the plus.( now they can let off.. if they let off of the pedal before the bleeder is tight, it will pull air in the system, and you will hafta start all over again.) Do this a few times, until you get a steady flow of fluid, with no air bubbles. After this one is bled, top back off the master cylender, then go to the back Drivers wheel, do process over again, between every wheel top off master cylender. then go to passengers front, and then finally drivers front... hope i explained this good enough for you to understand.. and if you have never messed with brake fluid before DO NOT let any of the fluid touch the paint on your vehicle, it will strip it off. hope this helps

What needs to be looked

I would check all fluids, and definitely brakes, depending on when they were last replaced.I always keep on top of my brake pads because I got sick of replacing rotors when it can easily be prevented.Probably inspect the serpentine belt too for cracks,wear,fraying.2002 with 160K miles,if the belt hasn't been replaced yet,it may be looking shoddy. If the battery hasn't been replaced ever, they should at least measure the voltage while the car is off.The average life for an alkaline battery is 6-7 years.
Good luck! Greg

Hello Kent.
In this system, the controller determines the direction and the amount of the assistant force based on the signals from the vehicle speed sensor and the torque sensor that is built in the gear box.
Built in is the keyword here Kent. Unless you can convince them to do a dis-assembly, which I doubt due to possible litigation if it fails again.
What about the possibility of a unit from a rebuilder or an auto recycler?
If you opt to go that route it may need to be reprogrammed into your Prius.
Hard to believe the price tag on this job.
Seeing this will certainly keep me from buying a Prius.
If you need anymore help, let me know.
Good luck with it.

I had a wire connector on the front of the engine that had so much tension, the wires broke. I didn't notice until a wet day when the car wouldn't start (and the Check Engine light was on). (The error code was related to an Emissions error.) The connector is located on the engine, front, just left of center. Hope this helps!
