When you put any car into 4wd you effectively lock up both axles to turn at the same time,so your
tyres will all turn at the same speed, this has the effect of wearing out the treads when on tarmac at a fantastic rate (you could get through a set of tyres in 2-3k)hence the smell of rubber.if you have a leak from the transfer case, you will see the oil on the casing.if you have no leak, you have NO problem.

and it spins over but fails to start, there are three fundamental
systems that must work properly and should be checked. The fuel and air
management is one. Too much or too little of either one of these and the
engine will not start. Second is the ignition system. Not only is a
spark required to ignite the fuel, it must be delivered on time and in
the right place. Last is the engine integrity. It must compress the fuel
and air, contain the explosion upon ignition and convert heat energy to
mechanical energy to propel the
vehicle. A breakdown in any of the three will prevent the engine from starting.
Crank the car.
Listen to the engine. An experienced driver should depend on his ears
and know the sound of the engine. If as it cranks the sounds are
abnormal, this is a strong indication of a mechanical failure. Each
cylinder, when strong and working well, compresses the fuel and air in
proper sequence. When this fails due to a timing belt or head gasket
problem, everything sounds different. If the engine sounds entirely
different while cranking, mechanical repairs are necessary.

Install a fuel pressure gauge. If the engine sounds as it
normally does install the gauge, turn the key on and watch the pressure
indicator. It should read as high as 50 psi. Refer to the manufacturer's
service manual for specifications and fuel pressure test procedures.
Some have fuel pressure specs as low as 35 psi. If there is no reading,
the fuel pump is in doubt. Turn the key off, and the on again, and
listen for a brief, faint hum in the fuel tank. The pump is designed to
run, then shut off if the vehicle
does not start. If there is no fuel pressure and no hum, the fuel pump
or pump circuit has malfunctioned. Make sure there is fuel in the tank.

Test the ignition system. Remove a conveniently located spark plug
wire from a spark plug and install a spark tester. This is a spark plug
with an alligator-clip attached. Clip the tester to the engine. This
completes the circuit so the spark can jump across the plug electrode.
Make sure the clip is attached to bare metal for a good ground. Have an
assistant crank the vehicle and watch for a bright spark. If there is
none, the ignition system must be repaired.

Just fixed this just the other day for a customer. Disconnect the battery first only after you've wormed up the engine just some, You'll have to hold the gas pedal. now with it off and the battrry unhooked remove the large air hose in the middlle of the front of the motor. There's a cover on the top of the moter held on with a few 10 MM headed nuts and set this cover aside. unscrew the rubber hose and work it off the throttle body. Position the hose out of the way and now you can see the throllte blade. You can pust it open with your finger. You'll notice that it's very dirty. This dirt can be removed with carb clearer or throttle body cleaner, Holding it open not only clean the blade also clean the hole that it closes in, Wipe good with a rag and try not to get too much down in the engine. once wiped up an dclean put the hose back on and tightem it and put the cover back on and then connect the battery and start it. You may have to hold a fast idel till the engine burns off the cleaner and then let off slowly and it'll idel if nothing else is wrong. Soon as you can try to use up and change to freash gas.
Hard time starting up have to let it sit with key
A fuel pump is the most likey problem, when you key-on a vehicle the fuel pupm turns on for 2-3 seconds to prime the system, it sounds as if your is not functioning properly. You can check fuel pressure at the schrader valve after pinching the return fuel line. You should have at least 35 psi, if not replace the fuel pump. Good Luck!
Hello, i would like to
Take a look around the kick panel on the driver's side. It would be a small toggle or push button switch that is activated by turning your ignition key to the run position and flipping/pushing the switch. Some systems require pushing the switch more than once. If you can not find the switch, disconnect your vehicle battery (to stop the alarm from sounding while working on it). Take down the dash panel under the steering column and follow back the harness from the ignition switch. There will be wires that were tapped into this harness that lead to the brain of the system. Pulling the fuses from the brain should disable the system.

You don't need the OEM part, Go to ebay and find one, or any parts store. I bought one for my truck, worked great. It has all the little electronic gizmos on it you need to blink with. Snaps right in the sockets, and no wire cutting. Check it out.
