2001 Toyota Echo sounds like metal dragging/trouble shiftinga nd accelerating

Nothing to do with your alternator. Transmission sounds possible. Also possible CV joints (constant velocity) - or your front wheel drive drive shaft(s). The mystery fluid leak is a definite concern. What was texture/color/amount of fluid? Where specifically did it come from? The "gurgling sound" is a new one to me. ???The CV joints is an easy check. Get under vehicle and grasp the drive shaft (one on each wheel) and give a good yank towards/away from you. If there is good resistance - or feels pretty solid, your shaft is probably OK. If it moves a whole bunch, it is probably broken and needs replacement. While you are there, check around the rubber ***** that is close to the wheel and make sure it is not ruptured or torn or missing. Anyproblems with this ***** only means inevitable replacement soon. (Some models have replacement boot kits, but I have never had any luck with them.)

What would cause electrical components to malfunction in 2001 toyota echo

All of those components are probably on the same circuit. I would guess that there is a short or bad ground connection somewhere. If there is an aftermarket radio, fuzzbuster, or other accesory that was tied in, it could be that's the problem.

The battery wont remain charged

Hello and good morning. Couple of things going on. First, alternator isn't charging, or is it.
Lets check the alternating output (battery positive and negative post). Take a cheap voltage meter and set it for DC volts around 20 volts on the scale. Place the test leads across the battery while the engine is running. The voltage across the battery terminals should be 13.8 DC volts to 14.1 DC volts. If you are getting this reading in volts from the multi-meter then you vehicle is charging correctly.

Next, check to see if there is a ground wire on the alternate it just a breaded copper cable the is hook to the case of the alternator to the engine block. If there is a ground cable, then that is OK.

Now, let check the tension of the alternator serpentine belt, it need to tight but extremely tight. Also check the condition of the belt. If it has cracks along the inter ridges of this serpentine belt then it needs to be replaced.

Any of the three things mentioned above can and will give problem to your vehicle. Also, any combination of the three above. Wish you luck. GB...stewbison

How do you replace the blower motor resistor in a

The resistor pack is almost always close to the blower. It needs air moving across it to keep it cool. It is usually installed into the duct with two small screws. It has a connector with about 5 -6 wires, and is about 3/4 inch wide, and about 3-4 inches long. Some can be a little difficult to get out due to clearance, and their shape.

Also, it could be the fan speed switch that's giving you problems.

Hello, I have a 2000

A 2001 echo a tune up , you will need sparkplugs , air filter , pcv valve and i would put some injector cleaner in the tank to help clean the fuel system, this cars fuel filter is inside the gas tank and is good for the life of the fuel pump and doesnt need replacing at this time,. take note that alot of the newwer toyotas use iridium sparkplugs, you will see a notice under the hood on a small sticker its sometimes located on valve cover or on radiator post warning you to use iridium plugs. i hope this helps, good day.
