2000 Toyota Camry Solara - Page 2 Questions & Answers
Occasional lurching and dying upon start-up or shifting into reverse or drive.
I would look at the alternator. With everything that is going wrong it all comes down to charge. It would seem that the alternator is only working part time as it is on its way out. I am guessing that as you are driving it is only charging the battery sometimes and other times it is not charging the battery causing your issues. The alternator can be checked at any parts store for free without taking it out.
2000 solara starts but wont rev up fast enough. no dtc codes either
My guess you have a fuel delivery problem. Has the car been properly maintained? If the fuel filter has been replaced there are other parts of the system. Wild guess is a fuel pressure regulator may not be performing as it used to, therefore the fuel injectors are not getting the pressure they need. It could also be a fuel pump and or its fuel pump relay.
Over heating only at highway speeds
Is your rad fluid up where it should be?
Is your rad plugged so air can't flow or does it need to be flushed?
Replace your thermostat That may be the problem as well. If your fluid is up I would change the thermostat.as that is a likely problem.
Check all hoses and make sure they are not kinked as well..
What does this mean
Several things can cause the warning light to come on, if you read your owner's manual it will explain this to you.
Check that your parking brake is fully disengaged when you're driving around.
Check your brake fluid level, there is a float sensor in there that will indicate a low level of fluid - low fluid can be from normal wear of the brakes, have them checked as they may be getting close to worn out or there might be a fluid leak somewhere.
When I turn the key to start I hear a load rattle sound
Quite likely the rattle is a relay or solenoid that is trying to activate but there's not enough power to make it work properly. The solenoid on the starter motor will make such a noise when it's not getting enough power.
Depending on location, getting 5 years from a battery is optimistic. Since you're mentioning the battery almost right away, I think you may have your answer but have not had it or your charging system tested. Your regular repair shop will be able to test your battery and charging system for you for a reasonable cost and will help you determine what steps you need to take next.
Where is the fuel test valve on a 2000
Toyota Solara v6 3.0. For fuel pressure test
great question. 1MZ-FE
the V6 has a fuel rail and all rails made
have a plug there (pipe plug) to test it or a mounted
Schrader valve (rated for fuel not tire kind at all.)
if not there we add one. on all cars. or make up and adapter
there are many ways, depends on year.
the plug on rail , the valve.
on newer cars a quick disconnect line , you add matching Tee fitting.
some have test port on the fuel filter is outside tank.
here is 95 rail with no fitting, cant find 2000
the 2002 is non return system (2000 i dont know)
summit racing sells a banjo bolt that is hollow to fit rails.
remove banjo at crossover, put in new bolt and bam, got a port.

the running lights and headlights, while they may be on a single switch mechanically, they are actually separate circuits, with two or three separate fuses.... you need much deeper circuit tracing

at it & did not do what was required
Now you can go back there or pay a second time, elsewhere to
have your car properly worked on, to find any & all problems

If i understand your question correctly, your shifter is stuck in park? Hopefully that is the case, look on the top part of the shifter console, there is a little square cover. You need to pop it open and press down on the button at the same time you take the shifter out of park.
