1997 4Runner oil quantity

For a V6 # Liter engine, you will use a galon and almost half (that is about 6 Liters of oil). I use a Toyota camry V6 3 Liter engine that shares the same engine with the Toyota 4Runner.

Engine missing mainly between 45 and 55 mph

I'm going to assume you have the 3.4 V6 engine which uses direct ignition with a coil on each plug.Could be ignition or fuel related.A weak spark/coil will allow the engine to run on all 6 cylinders at idle but miss under load, especially when going into overdrive at 45 mph. Not enough spark to jump the gap.Same thing with low fuel pressure or dirty injectors. Not enough fuel when the engine is working hard.Usually when you get a hard miss you will get a trouble code for the cylinder that is not giving power.Have you changed the fuel filter in the past 12 months ?

Rpm running high

Hello and welcome to FixYa!

As a first course of action try removing the throttle cable. Spray wd40 on the throttle cable to loosen the dirt. Put the throttle cable back and observe how it goes. If the problem still persist, I strongly suggest that you replace the MAF (mass air flow) sensor.

Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!
