Ignition stuck in lock position
Have you tried taking the pressure off the steering lock by turning the wheel a little? It should move slightly in one direction or the other.
Engine do not start (no cranking), only the sound
Hi:) That sound like the solenoid is the problem it is located on the starter and if the solenoid is not working right it will do all the things you are explaining.And yes heat has alot to do with it and being ware out.If it is the original it is time to replace the starter anyways it's 16 years old.

That happens on a lot of cars. It's natural because of the amount of juice the headlights draw. Only thing you can really do is to adjust the dimmer switch on your dash. All 3 of my cars do that.

Replace the viscous fan hub if you have one as it is not moving air through the radiator at idle or when the car is stationary. Check electric fan operation if you have electric fans as it amounts to the same result.

you are doing something wrong ,but you cant see it and it will confuse you ,call a mobile mechanic out for another opinion ,this fault could be anything and no doubt its something stupid as this car is too old to have a lot of fancy electrics and factory immobiliser,but 95??hmmm could be problem as it was about this time they were fitted .best of british with it and call a mobile mechanic to have a look
