Im about to drive this truck off a cliff!! About 3 months ago i was getting on the highway, was in 3rd gear, pressed the gas, and the truck hesitated for a second, then kicked in and was fine. over these last 3 months the hesitation has ben getting progressively worse, and now sometimes it wont start, or will stall while im driving if i dont constantly give it gas. I took it to my mechanic and he replaced the coolant temp sensor, which did nothing. He couldnt figure it out, and didnt have a diagnostic machine that could check for problems on a 94 toyota. So i took the truck to the Toyota dealership, and they told me i had a short in my MAF sensor at idle. They wanted $1100 to fix and i told them to screw. I bought a used MAF sensor, installed it... nothing changed. I took the truck to another mechanic to get a third opinion and he wanted $140 to diagnose it, and suggested i buy a refurb MAF sensor. So i took his advice and did that, still nothing changed. I replaced the plugs, wires, air filter, changed the oil and checked the pcv valve which was fine. Still, nothing changed. When i pulled the plugs, each plug was half black, half white... i don't know what else to do... any advice would be awesome. thanks. oh, by the way, the truck is spitting black smoke when it decides to run like ****. Sometimes it runs fine, other times it doesn't want to move. Its day or night, no in between with this thing.
When the timing chains stretch( and they do!) they can cause the 22re to stumble intermittently. Have trouble starting, misfiring, and even some trouble codes But first check your engine for codes You can do this by jumping TE1 and E1
If you have codes we can go from there.
You should pull your valve cover and check you timing chain tension, it should be very tight and not loose. if it is loose it is most likely time for a new chain and/ or tension and guides. I always replace them as a kit. Keep in mind that if the chain is worn it will get progressively worse until the engine will not run or the chain will wear in to the water galleys behind the water pump on the timing chain cover. sorry man.

Have 1994 toyota 4x4 pickup with a 22re, that i bought with blown head gasket. Guy took it apart and removed all wires and connectors. injector plug ins are 3 blue with one black, and different color wires need to know which ones go to which injector. Wiring diagram?
Keith
the color of the plastic plug does not matter... You will have two injector plugs with white/red and yellow wires - those two go to cyl#'s 1 and 3.
the other two plugs will have white and blur wires.. those two plugs go to injectors # 2 and 4.

I just bought the replacement for my burned out headlight on the Toyota pickup and would like instructions on how to change out the bulbs.
CAUTION
Most headlight retaining rings and trim bezels have very sharp
edges. Wear gloves. Never pry or push on a headlamp; it can shatter
suddenly.
Fig. Fig. 1: After removing the parking lamp screws, push on the grille clips to release the grille from the truck
Fig. Fig. 2: Remove the grille from the truck and set aside
Fig. Fig. 3: Remove the headlight bezel which is secured by screws
Fig. Fig. 4: Be careful when removing the headlight bezels, they can be sharp
A good kitchen or household magnet placed on the shank of the
screwdriver will provide enough grip to hold the screw during removal.
Fig. Fig. 5: Pull the light out, then unplug the wiring harness from behind it

1994 TOYOTA PICKUP A/C FUSE WHERE IS THIS LOCATED
Mine's in a different location than the previous post ... I've got a '94 Xtra Cab from Japan (pre-Tacoma). Pull the glove box ... 3 screws across the
top and then a screw and bolt below. There's a small covered fuse box for a/c and heater on passenger side about where the upper door hinge
attaches to body.

Where is the fuel filter located on a 1994 toyota pickup?
Not sure what engine you have, but on the 22R or 22RE (2.4 liter four cylinder) It's on the right side (passenger) lower engine just above the oil pan, and in front of the starter motor. You go through the inner wheel well just above the right front wheel. There is an access panel.

About to look for vacuum leaks in my 1994 toyota pickup truck (22re), and if I find any I want to be able to reset my ECU. Anyone know how?
Disconnecting the battery for 3-5 min will erase all stored adaptive memory on PCM.
