if you have every thing removed that can stop the v/c from coming off then these have a tendency for the rubber gasket to stick and you have to hit the cover with a rubber mallet some times fairly hard to get it unstuck.

this is an indication of worn bearings and worn rings as there is too much oil on the cylinder walls from excessive loss from the worn bearings that the worn oil rings cannot control the excess at high engine rpm's. Consider a recon short motor as it will be expensive to rebuild the engine.

this model does not have a cabin air filter.

is it actually rotating when the engine turns over I know sounds stupid but I\'ve seen the teeth that goes inside against the cam break off on first turn over happened to me once on a Honda, also that same car my original problem was I was getting power and everything like you but the icm on the distributor was putting the power out on the ground side and the power turned to ground not allowing the distributor to do its job and produce sparkhope this helps

If it's the 1.6 motor then 94 to 96 corolla take that starter only. But if it's a 1.8 motor then 94 to 97 take that starter and also geo prizm 94 to 97 takes that starter

could be your coil pack went bad and that would give you no spark,

unplug and clean each of the injector plugs, blow them out with an air hose real good.

could be a number of things ,take to a mechanic and get the OBD read, these older vehicles were a bit basic in the OBD but did have some capability to show where a problem could lay,i would guess at the ignition system probably the coil pack so you could check if it sparks when its not starting ,check the fuel supply side as well, try a fuel addative as this may clear any carbon deposits that have built up over the years , as you see it can be a variety of reasons
