All the things you mention at the end would cause codes on a scan tool so it is unlikely to be those. A high end $5 grand scan tool computer should diagnose the acceleration issue, but they can't diagnose bearing or gears that are worn. You could try cleaning the Throttle Body and MAF.

go to locksmith and say those words ignition lock key fob programming or the toy dealer. pick one.

Kerry, you can't just disconnect the battery to fix things. Yes it clears the code from the computer memory, but can do damage. You need an auto electrician with a pro grade scan took computer to read the Diagnostic Trouble Codes and the codes tell you the fix. Perhaps the moist caused a connection (shortage or corrosion) in the sensor or in the cabling? Not tech? visit a tech to check this out.

My solution is to get rid of this car immediately!! I had that happen to me. I had my mechanic check it and it was fine about 2 weeks later the car completely died because there is a defect with the 2004 Rav4 2.4l 4cyl. engine. Toyota never recalled this defect and now I am stuck with a car that is worth NOTHING. The top of the engine is put on with a metal/screw that is too soft. It separates and then antifreeze leaks out forcing the car to overheat. There is really no way to fix this besides dropping a new engine. I am stuck without a car and at a total loss. I will NEVER buy a Toyota again. Good luck!

Seems you need to get a qualified mechanic. Many times a used ECU must be 'programmed' to work with a car different than it was originally installed in. You should be able to have this done at a dealer, or check around for a qualified garage that has the software to do this.

Check for a short on that circuit , videos on you tube showing how to find a short .

the air bags are part of the car construction and to remove them makes the car unroadworthy that means that in the event of an accident, your insurance,both 3rd party and comprehensive ,will be wiped exposing you to large payments for loss and injury I can understand you wanting leather seats and toyota would have accommodated this wish in their cars with the proper air bag leather seats the real answer here is to find the correct leather seat with air bags so that a clean swap can be made sorry that it is not the answer you want but I do not advise how to fix that puts any one in danger
