there is a special flat tool ( available from auto parts and tool shops )
put it between the hub of the handle and the trim that protects the door trim and push it towards the knob of the handle
there is a small "C" shaped clip that fits in a groove in the handle and by pushing it out , the handle will slip of the splines

have you looked at the oil and coolant for a cr?me swirling color ? if so you have a bad head gasket , the plug blew out because water is noncompressable and something had to give , id also bet that the piston in that cylinder is not looking to good as well

It might be. You need power to the shifter interlock solenoid in order for it to operate. Most vehicles have a manual overide if you need to get the trans out of park inorder to move the vehicle.

Could be the switch faulty or no power to it you will have to get a test light to check, check fuse as well.

Tip

P0401 Error, Insufficient EGR Flow


In my case this was caused by a bad hose from the Throttle Body to the EGR Vacuum Switching Valve. Pictures are taken from the left side of the car except for the picture of the original hose. This is with the 4 cylinder engine. I used a piece of fuel/vacuum line that I had. It fit snugly which made my cost of repair zero.

Could be the switch for the headlights or the dimmer switch for the instrument panel.
