The fuel filter is located under hood, driver side, lower firewall, mounted below brake master cylinder.

IMPORTANT: Pressure must be released before opening fuel system.

1. Raise and support the front of the vehicle, then remove the tire and wheel assembly.
2. If equipped, remove the engine undercover.
3. Remove the cotter pin and locknut cap.
4. Depress the brake pedal to hold the hub stationary, then remove the bearing locknut from the hub.
5. Remove the brake caliper and rotor.
6. Remove the tie rod end from the steering knuckle, then place alignment marks on shock absorber lower bracket and camber adjust cam. Remove the bolt(s) and nut(s) securing the steering knuckle to the shock absorber, then disconnect the steering knuckle from the shock absorber, Figure 1.
7. Pull the axle hub from driveshaft.
8. If equipped, remove the stiffener plate (left side only) from the transaxle.
9. Drain the fluid from the transaxle.
10. Take a large screwdriver or pry bar between the CV joint and transaxle and remove pop the driveshaft from transaxle case.
11. Make sure there is a new C-clip on the transaxle end of the new drive shaft.
12. Reverse the procedure to install. When installing the new driveshaft, insert it into the transaxle as straight as possible and pop it back in. It will make a solid 'thunk' when it is inserted completely. Torque to specifications.

What year make and model vehicle?

Is this the correct oil? 5w 30? If it's too thick it can have troubles. Also, there is a cold start injector that can go bad. It is like a choke for fuel injection.

Get the fuel pressure checked.If its less then its quite possible that fuel pump needs to be replaced and fuel filter is got clogged.
the car quits because the pressure of fuel is not as required so it does not get started .
There are also some other possibilities which you will have to check in this case:--
1) First of all check the power and voltage to the battery.with meter it will show exact 12 volt if the battery is charged.if the voltage is less get the battery charged at local auto repair shop.if the battery is internally drained and not getting charged then its time to replace the battery.
2) When you crank the car do you see spark coming at the spark plug? if no then its time to check the spark plugs and coil pack.if the spark plugs are not worn out and looks new then its time to check coil pack.the spark plugs gets power to spark from coil pack.
3) The other thing to check in this case is the starter solenoid of the car.if the battery is charged and you start the car then it gives power to the starter to start the car.but if starter is faulty or not connected properly then car will not start.
4) The other thing to check in this case is fuel in the car.if there is fuel in the car then check the blockages in the fuel pump if the fuel pump looks proper then check the fuel filter above the fuel pump.
5) If all the above possibilities mentioned above checked out OK/perfect then its a electrical issue and the wiring's in the car needs to be checked.the car gets power from the battery to get started.so the wires from battery needs to be checked one by one.

Yes a neutral saftey switch can cause a motor not to start. Depending on its location. Usually on a manual the switch is on the clutch pedal not the transmission. I hope you lock down the issue. Good luck.

you may want to get an *** import motor as it will be much cheaper than a rebuild,especially if youre not keeping the car for 7 or 8 years,rebuild will cost $1,550 plus a whole decent engine will cost $500 or so

get a soft mallet and firm but lightly tap the side of the cap. it should break loose. be sure to mark the ends of the cap so you dont put it together backwards, that can screw with the oil passages. if replacing the bearing its also a good idea to place a plastigauge strip btwn the cap and bearing then torque to spec. this will let you know what your bearing clearance is, should be some where in the range of .006-.008

try double clutching(come out of 3rd then push clutch twice b-4 going to 4th. if this works your clutch slave may be weak or pressure plate is worn. Try shifting from 1st-3rd if engine revs like your in neutral replace clutch. when going 1st-3rd engine should catch and cause vehicle to buck&stumble. (check level of clutch master cylinder)

make sure the F mark is facing away from the cylinder block

Usually it is a worn synchronizer inside of the gearbox.

Can you please add details in the comment box? step 1 remove battery neg lug or BOOM wrap the lug in a shop towel securely not pull the alt if not you blow up a 120+ or more fuse and now the ALT is dead, even 10 new alts are now dead. see? never skip step 1 in the service manual or BOOM fact #2 its not a tiny ATC fuse that blew out. I found it at Mitchell-1 fuse 3 exploded (done wrong) so the harness dies not catch fire. car fires are never fun/.

It is not clear whether your key fob continues to work for the passenger side door. If it does not, you should replace the battery in the fob. Such batteries are available at Wal-Mart among the batteries. If the sliding door on the driver's side makes a noise but fails to open when you use the fob, the latch motor maiy have failed. If the cable in the side door has frayed and snapped, this would explain why you can manually open and close the door but the electronics won't move the door. And if while trying to close it manually, the door fails to latch properly, this is why you get an alarm. If the latch motor, cables, or any other components are malfunctioning, it could lead to the door not closing securely, triggering the alarm. Check your latch mechanism and cables. Exactly which nuts and bolts do you need the torque settings for? Not all fasteners on an engine use the same torque setting. For example, a valve cover bolt needs a low torque setting where a cylinder head bolt torque setting will be much much higher. If your rebuilding an engine it is usually a good idea to buy a good quality workshop repair manual which will have all the settings you need.
