Something in the engine compartment is not working correctly, or is misaligned. The increased friction or misalignment could be causing the belt to fail. Needs to be investigated by a qualified mechanic.

Did you position layshaft pinion the correct way around? Or, the reverse pinion the correct way around. You will need to dimantle g'box again I'm afraid. Hope this helps!

you didn't state specific engine so here is a run down of locations on a 4 cylinder engine there are 2 knock sensors located on the inlet side of the block adjacent to no 1 and 4 cylinders ( cross way motor) on a v6 engine( crossway engine) they are in the valley of the block ( probably under the inlet manifold system) at 2 and 5 cylinder positions on a v8 they will be located adjacent to 4 cylinder and between 6 and 8 cylinder on one side and adjacent to 3 cylinder and between 5 and 7 cylinder on the other side

the tcm. (trans control module) has detected a fault in the transmission. it won't change because its in limp home mode. the vss sensor may have failed. let the dealer or transmission shop run a scan tool on it.
