Fast idle
Pull the vacuum hose off of the fuel pressure regulator and if you see any fuel then replace the regulator. If there's no fuel present then take the idle air control valve off and clean the carbon out of it and the throttle body with a non-chlronated brake cleaner and reset the computer by disconnecting the ground cable on the battery for 30 seconds.

Were is timeing chain on 1992 jeep cherokee 4.0
Your timing chain is behind the timing chain cover. This means all of the front engine parts have to be removed to reach it. You will need to pull the Radiator and they recommend removing the Grille. It is a major disassembly of the front of the motor, unlike a Serpetine belt. To check for the need of replacement, you can try to turn the crank with a breaker bar. While you do this you should have the distributor cap off. Then watch the rotor inside the distributor turn. It should be almost immediate. If there is slack in the chain there will be a delay in the turning of the distributor rotor.Another way to test is to use a timing light while the engine is running and see if the timing changes for no reason. Now I do not agree with this method because if you have mechanical weights in the distributor the timing may move because of a worn breaker plate or distributor drive gear. Of course that extra play in the distributor gear/ cam gear can lead you to believe the timing chain is loose when it is not.Since the distributor comes out easily, you need to find a Speed shop who can test your distributor before going to all the work of getting at your timing chain. Then if there still is slack in the timing, you will know it is a chain and not the distributor. So there is room for error using either method, but I feel you are farther ahead by using the breaker bar method.

Engine light came on oow it has no power
Limp to the nearest chain auto parts store and request a free scan of your computer; it should contain error codes to point you in the right direction.
These will be in the format: PXXXX i.e. A cylinder not firing right will indicate P0304 and the last digit (4) identifies the cylinder at fault.
If it is a code not on the scanner's list (for example: P1507), write it down and search on line.
There are many sites with detailed info for each make and model of vehicle.

We need to remove the
You'd have a real hard time doing it that way, and you would have to turn the engine in small increments and gently pry, turn, pry...I am also concerned that you might damage something trying to remove that pressed-on balancer-it is keyed onto the shaft, and you really need to use a puller to do this-maybe if you had various sizes and lengths of lever-type tools, you might get it. Only one way to find out, but like I said, be careful about what you pry on (oil pan edge, timing case) as it might cause more damage than it's worth.

Check engine light comes on 1996 tdi
Open the hood, look for the engine, in a self-satisfied tone say "I checked it! Here it is". 9 times out of 10, on a vehicle that old, it idicates a faulty sensor in the "emission contol" system. Unless you start losing performance I wouldn't worry about it.
