I have a 1992 jeep Cherokee that has a ground

the control side of relay, needs voltage and ground. As you can see, for automatic it grounds through neutral switch. For manual tranny it appears to be chassis ground. For chassis ground, I just use a redundant ground, it works for me. starter relay-jc2kzzcm5pd40lvznzjulhkv-1-0.jpg

I have a 1992 jeep cherokee 2dr 4.0 H/O 5spd. that lost most pressure in the clutch

It sounds as though the seals in the master cylinder have perished and aren't doing their job. The reservoir is full, yes .. but the fluid isn't getting pumped because of worn seals... there's no pressure developing. If there are overhaul kits available - try one. They're much cheaper than buying a new clutch master cylinder. It isn't a difficult job. 0results for 1992 jeep cherokee clutch master cylinder repair

I replaced the timing chain all the timing marks are aligned but the engine wont start , the distributor rotor lands between the 4th and 5th post.

If timing marks are on , distributor is out . Bring #1 cylinder up on top dead center on compression stroke an see if rotor is pointing at # 1 on distributor cap . Do you know what the firing order is on the distributor cap ?

Fix rusted broken small spring under passenger seat it slides back and forth

go to your local hardware store, parts store and buy an expansion spring. cut it to length and bend a new tab on the cut end . fit it to the lever and it will work a treat. Most auto seats have the spring but you will have to upend a seat to get it out as it costs too much for the junk yards to do it.

Wont go in reverse how to adjust band for reverse

what makes you think there are bands. ? did you look in the FSM> did you post exact transmission in your car , ? here is a free look 1993 chickodee. http://www.jeep4x4center.com/knowledge-base/index.htm?utm_source=cj#service 32RH (has bands) page 96 and 97 (band adj) or AW-4 no bands. uses solenoid clutch packs. electric. see them both and all tests and settings. is yours a TCM shifted ? tranny, yes then why not scan it. or the flash code procedure. page 174 the TCM cars will flash OD lamp or drive lamps or something to tell you its got error codes. get them. best of best. aw-4 (see the manual mode test. many cars have this, not just jeeps) may TCM tranny cars, (RTM read the FSM and learn this) http://mikestrawbridge.com/blog/2011/09/aw4-troubleshooting/ hint 2: make sure the tranny ground stap is not broken. if it is, it will never ever shift right or reliably true for just about any TCM car. see one guy last week bought new tranny ,and never used a voltmeter on the solinoids. had 12v casing.. a shame.

My 1992 jeep cherokee sport inline6-4.0L idles

ever tune it up? ever , or at the 60k mile points? if not why not. does the CEL lamp glow running>? rough idle is called misfire. stalling can be many things, a mech sees this all in 5min. here on the form i have to ask many questions (cant drive it) lets play that out. 1: i start car and ask owner, ever tune it up,: blank stare. 2: i see it dont reach 180F coolant temp,. (bad thermostat)_ 3: then note misfire. i tune it up and its fixed. or 4: it still misfires,, i find the EGR stuck open. (listed under service 60k) 5: it still misfires, i find idle too low, the ISC is stuck closed. i clean the EGR and ISC valve and car now idles ok, but is still rich , i find the 02 front sensor long gone bad. it looks like it has cancer. there are over 50 causes for misfire, 1 or all 6 cylinders. what we do is start with basics and work up. here are 2 hints on stall. first off the ECU failed to stop the stall, its programmed to do that using the ISC . so it failed to work. the EGR stuck open will do that every time or idle at 500RPM and shake the engine hard, misfiring. or if one cylinder or more is dead. or if the ISC sticks closed. so when it seems to stall, pre-stall, as RPM drops below 800 rpm you use a fast right foot. is it easy to prevent the stall? easy, save, is isc stuck closed? gummed up. harder is EGR stuck open, (but you can correct it by hard actions of right foot)? impossible to stop the stall.? your mech, does all that action in 5min. flat. even loss of 12vdc power to EFI systems , do this. (cant save it) and mech sees dash lights go dead. bingo no DC power, all by looking and seeing. and feeling. he gathers evidence, both my 4.0L jeeps, loved to stick the ISC. every 20kmiles, off it cam and got sprayed with Klondike gun lube, Dry lube. no oil , it looks like brown paint and acts like Teflon. The 4 liter likes to get he PCV oil mist up to the ISC, this builds a film of gunk on the valve cone inside . im not saying this is it, but the easy save above is a big clue.

Manual

Your Jeep may have been built using R12 freon. R134 was first used around 1994. If it is R12 the fittings won't work on your R134 recharge kit. Otherwise, you connect the hose fitting to the fitting that is on the low side line. The high side fitting will be too big or too small. Sometimes the low side fitting is on the compressor, sometimes it is in one of the lines.
