Saab 9-5 blowing white smoke from exhaust

One way to check for a blown head gasket, is to simply smell the coolant reservoir. Pop the cap, and see if it smells like raw gas. Every headgasket, I've diagnosed has had this smell, even if the oil is not contaminated. Another way is to hook up a coolant pressure tester, and run the vehicle for 15-20 mins or so. If the head gasket is blown, the pressure will exceed 15 psi. sometimes as high as 25 psi. If there is oil in the coolant overflow tank, the head is cracked, about 90% of the time.
I'm working on a 03 Saab 95 2.3l t. This vehicle smokes on initial start up, then the smoke disapates, and the vehicle is fine. Another mechanic diagnosed it as bad valve seals. I disconnected the pcv system, and the vehicle no longer smokes. If the valve seals have gone bad, the vehicle will smoke on acceleration. Also if the turbo seals are leaking it will smoke more heavily on acceleration.

you have a dead short in your lighting system ,start by going to each and every bulb and check them and leading wiring to them look in all the places around fuse box for corrosion shorted wires, broken or rubbing together with bare spots , see if all other lights work well with out signals or 4ways, check brake lights as well,if you have a towing wiring check plug for damage or broken wires and corrosion.

Where can I get the radio code for my 1999 Saab 93

You can't. There is no code you can change. It is a matter of an embedded code in your radio matching the one in your car's computer. If you bought a used Saab radio from a junkyard, you still have to take it to the Saab dealer to get them to change the code in your computer, so the radio will work. Nice, huh?

Oil in coolant

Oil generally will get into the coolant due to a headgasket leaking, or a cracked head.

You'll need to pressurize both systems (OIl & Cooling) to try & determine where the leak is coming from. .

Antifreeze in the oil can cause the pistons to sieze in the cylinders and if you've got oil in the anti-freeze, you more than likely have anti-freeze in the oil, or soon will.

Good luck.

Make sure you are within range of the car, then press the remote's unlock button at least 4 times to synchronize with the car. If this doesn't help then the battery and/or the remote is bad.
