hello
the switch on my sunroof has quit working and naturaly the sunroof is open. my question is how do i bypass the switch to close the sunroof until i find a replacemrnt switch.
thanks for any help
I know this is an old blog but some people may still find it helpful. There are 4 wires in the roof window switch hooked up to 2 smaller harnesses that have 2 wires each.
Remove the switch and use only the metal contacts in the harnesses. One should use a light tester to confirm which one is the ground and live. this is how it turned out for my car.
One harness has a light blue wire with a black stripe, and a black wire. the blue one is live, the black one is ground.
The other harness has a red wire and a darker blue wire (silly ford) these are the motor connect and return wires.
You must hook up thhooked to (example, if the live wire was connected to blue motor wire and the ground wire was connected to red motor wire and it opened it, that would mean you would want to put the live wire to the red motor wire and the ground wire to the blue motor wire)
When doing these wire connections, it is advised that you have the ignition turned off. Once you make all the connections properly, you can turn on the ignition and if done correctly, the roof window will move. Once it is closed, remove the wires frome the harnesses and LEAVE THE ROOF WINDOW ALONE UNTIL YOU HAVE A NEW SWITCH.
e power (Live, light blue) wire to a motor wire. You must then run another wire from the other motor wire. To complete this circuit there is only one place that this last wire can go and it is to the ground. once this is connected the roof should either open more or close.
To reverse the operation of the roof, simply reverse the position of the live and ground wires in respect to which motor wires they are

trunk pull down motor not working. Trying to troubleshoot. Which fuse, relay, switch, etc. Location of items would be very helpful
There is a switch near the latch thats attached to the body of the car. It connects directly to the motor for the latch. This is the number one cause of this problem.
You could check the motor operation by removing the switch (1 Torx screw & pull it up). Then connecting 12 volt leads to the 2 contacts on the motor itself. One way it should move up the other it should go down. The 3 wire connector has both positive and negative 12 volts. The polarity switches from the position of the switch on the trunk lid by the latch.
The switch is about $30 on eBay and the switch and motor are about $150. Search for trunk pulldown switch for availability and pictures.

When the anti lock brake light on my 93 lincoln town car comes on, if I am pressing on the brake at the time, makes the brakes grab. It also happens just before the light comes on. I have had the front and rear brake pads replaced and the front rotors replaced. Is there something else I can do? I love my car, but it is scary when this happens. I can't let anyone else in the car now and I don't like to drive it like this.
the abs light on the dash should come on when the abs is working (emergency braking)if it comes on when braking normally(gently)chances are a sensor is gone(replace in pairs, fronts & rears)
abs stops the wheels from locking up in an emergency brake situation, you will feel the grab-release,grab-release on the brake pedal......

I own a 1993 Lincoln Town Car Executive. Non of the interior lights go on when you open the door or when you unlock the doors or turn the headlight switch to the side. No overhead lights, no lights on the door panels, no lights under the dash.
The only interior lights that DO work are all of the dash instruments and the visor mirror lights.
I checked the fuses and don't see a blown fuse. I'm suspecting a wire may not be connected to the fuse box... but would ONE wire control all interior lights?
theres a in dash lighting switch you need to replace

I'm trying to figure out where to go with my problem. The fuse goes out every time I cycle the air ride switch off then back on. The back end is totally on the ground. I'm trying to logically go threw the proper steps for proper diagnosis. My problem is I'm unfamiliar with this system but I'm a fast learner.
To diagnose , you need a factory service repair ,pin point diagnostic step manual . You have a short to ground on that power circuit . Looking at wiring diagrams to see what all is involved . Learning how to test automotive electrical circuit's .
Electric Testing Techniques You Need to Know

I have a 1993 Lincoln Town Car Executive Series and the air rise suspension stop working. How can I fix it and where is the computer module located on my car??
my brother in law replaced the air springs on my '94 town car with rear coil springs from a '92 crown vic. He raised the rear tires off the ground and put jack stands on the frame for safety on both sides. Then disconnected the shocks at the lower end and removed the air springs.removed rear tires and used a piece of 2x4 to pry axle down to provide clearance to put coil springs in place. then hooked shocks back up and it worked fine. the only way the coil springs could come out is if the car was upside down and then who cares. This project only cost $ 25.00 Real cheap being we were broke!

My battery died, turns out it was bad, so I bought a new battery. However the radio will not play, the power comes on but no sound, only makes a rattling sound when the "seek " button is used. There is a code on the inside of the trunk arm, but I don't know how to implement it to reset the radio.
The code on the inside of the trunk is for the keyless entry touch pad. The radio will require further diagnostics. Be sure to check all fuses for radio and amplifier. It should have a separate audio amplifier, they have been known to go bad, possibly what ran the battery dead to begin with.

no tail or license plate lights. No parking lights front or back. Headlights and brake and signal OK. 93 lincoln town car.
Sounds like either your wiring from the Light switch is bad or the Light switch itself is bad. Check with your Owners manual to see if the "Parking lights" have a separate fuse.
Your tail and License plate lights would light with either the Headlights or the "Parking" light selected at the switch as would the front parking lights. If all lights except the headlights are out, your problem is closer to the light switch than at the mounting points of each Parking light or License plate light.
This is one case where you will not know if a dead wire off of the switch is dead because of a bad switch or a bad wire. You would have to detach the harness at the switch, test the wire bundle or jump the switch with power to see how it distributes power through the Harness. It will take a lot of time to rule out the switch. It may be cheaper to replace the switch and then work from there.
