1995 Jeep Cherokee 2 Door - Page 8 Questions & Answers
1999 Jeep Cherokee Sport POWER WINDOWS ARE STUCK , AND IT IS FRICKING HOT
I don't know liter size of engine? May not matter. You see the power window circuit breaker, not only check the circuit breaker, check the circuit for voltage, use a test light. The circuit goes hot with key on.
You can also check wiring harness on hinge side of driver door. When trying to operate window, the tan wire is voltage and black wire is ground. Sometimes those wires break because you open and close the driver door so much.
I have a 99 jeep Cherokee i am trying to fix my reverse light i dit change the assambly and ligth buld and still not working can tell me what is goin on
99 XJ jeep, gas or diesel, i GUESS GAS and USA XJ jeep.
auto or stick we can not guess transmissions here EVER.
the a/t box, (auto)
uses a device called TRS/PRNDL or reverse switch.
to glow the lamps in the rear, fuses checked first.
you never said both are dead., dim or stuck on.>?
chapter 8w-51-5 (Gas) covers this. the book is free.
click Cherokee.
click wiring, behold a real matching schematic on your car.
no working blind, now.
the fuse.J10 is the backup fuse in the JB, cab box, 15amp.
that be always 1st first.
key on
in reverse
the backup switch has 12vdc in and 12vdc out
then that one wire goes to rear of car and lamp glows
if the lamp is ground,(both) BR-Lg 12vdc to all lamps
black wire is ground and 0v, in reverse.

I changed ignition key lock switch on my 1995 jeep Cherokee country. still won't crank or start. lights work. now brake pedal hard to push down.
automatic or stick shift manual trans, 2wd or 4wd?silent starter, it is... and is a 1st order problem.when did it last run perfect ? as daily driver1 week, 1month 1year.? 10 year?the brakes have assist , and that does not work with dead engine. (uses engine vacuum for that magic)so lets focus on NO CRANK ..check fuses yet?.battery lugs not green with corrosion, (clean them)next does the cluster glow?, keyon, all those warnings must glow, and for sure the CEL ,lamp that check-engine lamp tells youEFI magic is alive. (PCM has power and stage 1 tests ,ok)see>now does jumper cable jump starts work?????you know, like the AAA tow truck guy does ?15 steps here, how far can you get.see some tricks below, ? some can get you out of a JAM

How do i get my drl on in my jeep cherokee 2.5 diesel 2002,bought a relay but they are just on permanently
welcome to a USA forum
we dont have that car in usa,not one.ENDED HERE 2001.
nor that diesel
nor that DRL JUNK( proven useless by SCIENCE!!)
DID you scan it first., seems not.
the DRL in all cars(generic answerS..........
DRL CAN GO OFF LINE FOR THESE REASONS.
1: brake failure lamp on.
2:ALTernator failing..scanning really does help, for surel
3: DRL model if presest bad.
4:DLR dropping resistor block burned open newer cars are PWM modulated and no more block resistor.
5:fuses blown related
6: wire bad related.
pray tell buy the sevice manual yet read the DRL page and
see how it works and the tests.
as they say , you cant fix it if you dont know how it works.
rings true:
all that it basic theory
i gap the book and meter
and find the cause, electrics101 , works every time.
next time post to a forum in your country
and10x faser answers
10x more accurate,not generic.
My Cherokee has developed a rattle with a small amount of smoke from the top rear of the engine, oil ok and no warning lights what could be the problem Thanks Jon
no year, 1987?
no engine stated, "displacement"
sounds like (im blind and guess wrong every time, as net bunny)
liKE PCV valve is packed up, not serviced per book.
my old 1988 , sold long ago, many since.
the lines there are cheap plastic, gray,/back thin wall , loves to crack old, plastic,. (my 88 had no PCV, it had only and ORIFICE port due to 4.0L super smooth blowby, inline 6. nice.)
if the PCV pipe cracks, it will smoke. (blowby that is and is a smog device)
why not just look a it and see what EXACTLY smokes
an object,
or photo it smoking
or go to any shop and ask them to look for you.
like 99% do now.
How to turn off light emmis maint in Cherokee 1990
4.0L engine? USA car?
The check engine light. (no photos by you of lamp)
there are 4 ways.
on all cars made. CEL reset.... if present.
1: pull battery (on newer cars, radio bricks out)
2: push reset button on the scan tool. (a special tool you cant buy)
3: correct the error, then it self corrects light (called driving them off,)
4: remove the memory fuse. to the ECU , and this resets all codes.
fuse F15 red wire feed to ecu PIN 3 is it. 1991 year model up.
most 1990s are the French EFI system called RENIX.
im answering both ways due to not knowing true build dates.
system 2: July 1 ,build dates (new fed, laws this day)
NO, the above is wrong on this day, this engine is pre-OBD1
there is no CEL lamp until 1991, but if car was made near July1 or or after,1990, who knows what is there.???
I guess you mean the old and now very silly 1990s
leaded gasoline timer, the so called get cars emissions checked.
baCK in the day with 1/2 gas had lead.
the check is a Cat converter test.
remove it. remove the timer and trash it is the correct steps.
it is useless now,
it's just a time clock, the goes off. (miles i think)
i removed mine back in 1988.
What would be the cause of having the freakn wabble and how can i fix it quickly and less costly for a 93 jeep Cherokee 4wd 4.0 inline 6 with huge 33' tires
asking the net bunnies blind.... wow.why not go to suspension shop?and have them check all that out in like 30 minutes workwhat is your question":1: want wild guessing?2: or a wall of text on how to do a complete front engine inspection, sorry that is not happening.those giant tires, will exploit ALL front end playand will be hard to balance.less costly why ask that? costs vary over every inch of mother earth, for 100 of factors.1st : is diagnosis, and that alone can cost.since you had to ask my guess is you are clueless on this aspect.no elaboration on wabble.i presume moving sure, but are you turning?you said wabble, my guess it's felt in the steering wheel and not SEEN by you or others. right?endless answers.1:lug bolts loose.2: wheel bearings loose.bad3: tires grossly out of balance, , get em serviced.4: tie rods loose , lever(pry bar) them to see.5: ball joints loose, watch 100s demo that on youtube. again done with levers.6: that wabble can be tire bounce, caused by #2and by bad DAMPENERS.(aka STRUTS)or made worse by #5, so are you asking how to test all 6 class failure?do the work?or asking who does it the most cheaper.you can shop for parts all by yourself and saveso my guess this post is labor cost issues.well that depends on how many parts are bad.totally UNKNOWN.why not find a shop that can diagnose thishere like we've done for 100 yearsyou call a shop and ask how much is diagnosisuse the yellow pages..?if you want to learn now, then buy a book first on car repairs. all that is covered, in all books i've seen.(my library is huge)or if books are evil (as it seems today)google all day.no photo of rims or tiresthe rims my be wrong for this car.who knows says the blind net bunny men.we can speculate all day here.why not crack a book. RTM
This problem started to happen when the outside temperature started cooling down sometimes it works great and some times it takes very long time to get it to work(what does work mean?)
wow, you only what guessing, on the 2005 WK grand Cherokee posted on non grand.no engine size statedthe trans brain and the engine brain (EFI)both think engine is overheating.with no tools , no books, no scan too, and no motivation to learn, then what is the answerRTM ? it tells you to get the car serviced.the thermostat may be bad, or coolant never serviced in 10 long years,so is bad.get there car fixedbut like 99% of the helpless, and do that.asking how to fix a car with no tools or books on them is a receipt to danger, to you and car.EG: I have no toolsI want you to guess only, no diagnosis allowed here.go for that...
