Not starting

Not much to go on in your description. Usually the problem is that the BECM module has lost the security code that must match the code in the engine ECU. You don't get a warning light in this situation. If it coughed and spluttered before it died than that indicates that it may be fuel related. You really need to connect an analyser to check the code,

1997 range rover 4.0 brake is tough when depressed and car does

If this is too old for abs, then your caliper pistons may be sticking, or pads are worn and you are already at full length of piston travel. YOu can always try to bleed again.

Where is the fuel pump on 1987 Land Rover?

if the pump is electric then turn on the ignition and trace the clicking noise. My pump [on the 1985 model] is under the passenger [rh side] floor on the outside of the chassis just by the floor support. Hope this helps.

87 Range Rover Classic High-beams are always on when headlights

There is a relay, and fuses. Some realys under lower facia panel driver side UK 87 models, however there were some variations so check under the bonnet too.

This does sound more like a short, if all relays are ok. Check the head light units and work your way back. The wiring in these are not the best in the world, plug at back of head light unit suspect too.

Do your lower driving lights common too, when you have the switch in ? Has some one been messing about with this wiring, runs down by air dam.

Where do i find the chassis no. on a1981 range

Hi Casey

The main plate should be on the fron cross member above the grill. Engine number underneath the spark plugs, left bank above exhaust outlet.

I think some earlier vehicles had a number stamped on the drivers side door area.

Your local Land Rover dealer can help or go to one of the mainy forums world wide.

1987 Range Rover Vogue.Auxillary/ Driving lights

Hi

No, you can't not for on road use any how. Driving around with those on especially in the wet and you could get your self a pull from the law, you could blind on coming drivers.

You could mess about with the wiring however I would advise this. The simplest way around this is to fit fogs on the air dam using seperate wiring. The switch can go on the dash or you could get a proper switch relay and link it into the rear for line.

The driving light harness could be removed from the old air dam driving lights, add about a foot of wiring and you could fit some bumper lights for off road use.

Remember any mods you make, let your insurance company know.

Incorrect fuses- seller had a 1amp she chewed&spat

Hi

You should have a sticker on the back of the fuse cover plate. You may find people have uped the rating, put a 30 instead of a 25 amp, therefore color changed, be warey of any such changes.

You can down load works manuals from http://www.landroverweb.com/Land-Rover-Range-Rover-manual-pdf.htm and other sites, just do a search on google or alltheweb. There is also a good Aus site for land rovers http://www.aulro.com/afvb/range-rover/

If I get a chance tommorow I will try and scan you the page. Got owners manual on ebay here in the UK.

Brake system

Hi, It sounds like the brakes need bleeding again, but just as your about to finish and all the air is out make sure the brake pedal is pulled up all the way before tightening the bleed screw.
You might need to bleed the whole system but if you still have the problem, then you will need to check for leaks and if none are found you will most likely need to replace the brake servo and will have to bleed the whole system again. This should solve your problem and if you have any problems or need me to answer any other questions, give me shout and will gladly assist you further.
