When you don't run a motor for a while, the seals tend to dry rot. And then when you finally crank it up, the seal gets hot and expands, causing it to deterierate. Now the oil is passing right through that bad seal, causing a leak. Hope this helps. Please rate. James Booth :)

1991 Lincoln Continental air suspension not
If you have an electronically controlled air suspension system you cannot fill it manually.
The only way you can fill a suspension manually is if you have air filled shock absorbers. There is an black nipple at the side to fill air to it.
In your model i think it is an electronically controlled air system. So it is not possible. After 1990 all the models have an electronically controlled system.
Gas door will not open
i would check the fuses / relays switches, some are located under the hood on drivers side, and others have them under instrument panel.
The battery dies overnight.
pull fuse 3 and see if battery dies overnight...i did that on mine because interior lights were draining battery.
How to remove heater core
If it is necessary to remove the heater assembly, the cooling system must be drained before removing the heater core.
When a heater core leaks, a new heater core is installed or the old one repaired.
Heater Housing
- The heater housing is usually under the dash and must be removed to gain access to the heater core.
- Procedures for replacing the heater core vary with the year, make, and model of car. It threfore necessary to consult the manufacturer's repair manuals for the proper procedure for replacement.
The heater housing is disassembled to get to the heater core.
Heater Core
- Remove the access panels(s) or the split heater/air conditioning case to gain acess to the heater core.
- Remove the heater coolant hoses.
- Remove the cable and/or vacuum control lines (if equipped).
- Remove the heater core securing brackets and/or clamps.
- Lift the core from the case. Do not use force. Take care not to damage the fins of the heater core when removing.
- To reinstall the heater core, reverse the removal steps.
When the heater core leaks and must be repaired or replaced, it is a very difficult and time-consuming job primarily because of the core's location deep within the firewall of the car. For this reason always leak test a replacement heater core before installation.
I have a 1991 Lincoln Contential and all the
If the headlights are flashing, the alarm system is factory installed. Inserting the key into the driver door lock and turning to the left then back to the right is supposed to disarm it. If the parking lights are blinking,, the alarm is an aftermarket add on, and there should be a disarm button under the dash on the driver side. If it' an aftermarket alarm, you should be able to have it removed. There is a way to bypass the factory alarm. There is a wiring harness in the driver's door. You will have to remove the door panel to find it. The wire is dark green and purple. Splice into that wire and ground it to the chassis and the alarm should no longer work.
How do you turn off
hook it to a code reader! The computer is picking up that something is wrong thats why the light is on!
My 1994 Lincoln Continental dcl light keeps coming
it is a very common electrical problem with digital displays on lincolns, and unless you have extensive wiring experience, I'm afraid that your only option is to replace the display itself, I had to do it on my own 1990 continental twice before the problem went away, my brother's 94 continental still has that issue...luckily most auto salvage yards have these parts available, some even let you pull them out yourself, which makes things even cheaper, I hope this helps.
P.S. if you need instructions on how to take out the display let me know (or go and buy Chiltons)
Power sterring .. pump empty s quick leaks on
If the pump is leaking, your best solution is to get a warranted pump from an auto salvage yard, and replace the one you have with that.
If it is a joint between a hose and some fitting, or it is coming out of the side of a hose, you will probably need to replace that hose.
Either you are going to have to do this yourself, or you are going to have to have someone else do it. Mechanics were not mechanics until they started working on things. No time like the present...
