Light warning buzzer constantly on
Have you checked that the headlight switch is in the right position? Are the headlights or parking lights still on when the key is removed?
If so, then rotate the lamp switch to the correct position and the buzzer will go off. Headlights and parking lights are not controlled through the key circuits.

It's a '99 Elantra, have you ever replaced the timing belt? It is a belt not a chaing, so it is very much should have the belt changed. After 13 years if you haven't done the belt yet now appears to be the time to change. I have an '05 and we changed it over a year now.Good luck!!EJ Kudelka

When i have my headlights on the brake lights stay on
Hi Mandy,Whenever I see a problem like this, it is usually caused by a bulb that has been installed incorrectly or the wrong bulb installed. There are other things that can cause it, but this is the FIRST thing I would check - especially if you have had any bulbs replaced recently. The second most common cause that I have seen is aftermarket equipment such as alarm systems that are malfunctioning or incorrectly installed. If all of the above has been checked and/or verified to be working properly, let me know. There are a couple other things that we can check.

Hi and welcome to FixYa!
As a first course of action please try to charge the battery. It may be weak which may cause the car not to start.
If the problem still persists please try to check the starter. It is located at the back of the engine near the flywheel. It has 2 bolts that holds the starter and a cable connected to the positive battery terminal. Try to put the starter on the battery ground and connect the positive connector to the starter. If it doesn't kick then the starter needs replacement. If it kicks then there must be some electrical issues.
I suggest that you visit a reputable auto electrician to trace out the problem.
Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

There are (usually) 'SPARE' fuses in the underhood junction box (U/H) and inside the passenger compartment (I/P Instrument Panel) junction box. Read the labels -- they'll tell you which locations contain 'SPARE' fuses.
