No, the key should have buttons and that opens and locks the door.

If the key has no buttons, it is a Valet Key which usually doesn't start the car as it has no chip. There are also Emergency keys which are flat in a case and do have the chips to start.

The other possibility is that the battery is flat.

There is a battery in the key fob. Does an LED light up when you press the button.

You should have at least two keys with the car.

Hello WHAT THE HECK HAPPENED !

When power is disconnected from the vehicles on board computers, they reset themselves to factory standards.

To have all system monitors reset themselves... a standard driving procedure has to be followed. Please see the link for a Accent model to give you an idea of what to do. If you can't find the exact procedure for your vehicle, the link for the Accent model should work for your Elantra.

PS: Check to make sure the spark plugs leads went to the correct cylinder.

CO2 levels are set by the ECM program. If the HO2S and O2 sensors are working properly then that information is relayed to the ECM ,checked against the CPU program and the air/fuel mixture/timing is adjusted by the ECM to rectify the readings.
