1997 Hyundai Elantra: Does the smaller radiator

If you look one of the fans will be behind the radiator and the other will be behind the A/C condesor. The A/C condesor fan should run as long as the A/C is on. The radiator fan will cycle on and off as the temperature sensor tells it too.
Hope this helps.

2 problems with my 1997 Elantra

clip might of broke for the rod to the inside handle or the whole inside handle needs to be replaced. you need to remove it and inspect it. for the horn it might be a connection in the horn pad or a broken horn. plug an ohm meter to the wires that plug into the horn and press the horn pad. if you get a reading then your horn pad is good. try jumping power to the horn if that works its good and its your wiring. or try checking your horn fuse first before anything.

Daughter has a 1997 Hyundai Elantra that she

200K is a lot of miles. I would think that the rings might not be in very good shape.

Take the oil filler cap off. Stand to the side of the vehicle. Put the car in gear push hard on the brakes, and push on the accelerator to ask a lot of power from the engine. If you get exhaust gas coming out of the oil filling hole, your piston rings are history.

See if that “stuck” code is back, and find out what the code is saying.

I had a 96 Hyundai that got to the point that no acceleration was possible. As it turned out, there were two catalytic converters, one in a coffee can shaped section of the exhaust manifold, and one a lot farther down the tail pipe. It turns out that the face of the first converter had actually melted from the exhaust heat, and the face had seeped over the whole front of that converter, blocking any chance for exhaust to flow through it. My first clue was when I disconnected the exhaust pipe from the manifold, then started the car. There was no loud exhaust noise! (I thought I had lost my mind!) I don't actually think you have this problem, because resetting a code cannot overcome that kind of problem.

Having the exhaust gas analyzed while the engine is under a load might reveal something meaningful.

Replacing with better engine

You can exchange it with one that is inner cooled and turboed But thats $1500.00 in parts plus the engine and labor. Your best bet is to find out what is wrong with your engine and rebuild it. As long as there are no major damages.
