How do I rest ignition on 1998 Saturn
The security, antitheft or lock picture/icon is a visual indication that something in the car's antitheft system is failing. In most GM cars and trucks there is a hidden system that most people are unaware even exists. From the moment you put your key in the ignition, there begins a constant line of communication between your key's security chip or transponder, to the ignition's lock cylinder, and then to the car's TDM (Theft Deterrent Module). These 3 parts are in CONSTANT communication. If the key is in the ignition, then these parts are sending signals to each other. The security light illuminates when that signal gets broken, even just for a second. When the signal breaks, the car misinterprets this as an attempt at theft and goes into antitheft mode. The car thinks its being stolen or hotwired because it is not getting that signal from YOUR specific key. This is why the security light turns on and shuts down your vehicle. This link explains it pretty well.

Can't find the starter on
find the battery, just under the battery is a large bell shaped contraption between the engine and the transmission, it is called the bell housing oddly enough. the starter bolts into the bell housing on the back side of the engine. it is under the intake manifold and is a ***** to get to. buy a rebuilt starter and take it to a shop which has a lift and lots of extensions and universals in their socket sets. behind the starter in the engine block is a crank sensor, while your starter is out have the guy replace the crank sensor, another common saturn fault.

98 SW wagon starts fine
I was definitely gonna say your torque converter. The fix is to replace your torque converter. The convertor basically transfers the moving motion from the engine to the non moving motion of your transmission smoothly. When it goes bad it will usually make the motor run rough in gear or stall the motor when it's completely bad. It will be a fairly expensive cost since the torque convertor sits between the engine and transmission. It also could be faulty wiring as well. You would have to have it physically diagnosed by a mechanic to confirm if its electrical or the actual torque convertor.

Service with the wrench sybols appears, what needs
1998 Saturn SL1 5 Speed everything manual except Cruise Control. Run Great. Every time I start it, it goes through it's check cycle and comes back GOOD. But as soon as I move approximately 20 feet the SERVICE Wrench Light comes on and stays on until the car is shut off. This happens every time, doesn't matter if I go forward or reverse. All checks have turned up nothing. No codes. I checked the wiring and have found nothing. I have checked and replaced any and all bulbs, including the ash tray bulb. I have replaced the Cool Fan Relay. And still the problem exist. Any feedback or advice would be greatly appreciated.

When the vehicle is hot, does the Starter turn the engine over? If not, your starter is being affected by Heat soak, and you must replace the starter. If the starter does turn over the engine, you have a sensor that is failing due to heat soak, or your ECM is failing when hot. This is much more difficult to diagnose since each sensor will have to be monitored to find the faulty sensor. I’m happy to help further over the phone at

Im trying to find out where the starter is located
all saturns 91-99 shared the same engine block. the starter is on the back of the engine, bolted nosed into the bell housing.
go to a parts store website, or ebay and find a starter for your car, then look under the hood until you find the thing which looks just like the picture, except the nose end will not be visible.
not easy to replace.

How do you change the
You just take off the hub, if equipped. Loosen the lug nuts. Jack the car up and take the lug nuts off. Take off the tire and put the new one on. If you need to get it off the rim, you need to let the air loose. Pry the tire off and put the new one on. It is hard to do unless you have the proper machine.

Cranks but does not fire. put gas into intake
First off check and verify you have sufficient fuel pressure with a fuel gauge if the fuel pressure is good next verify you have spark remove one of the sparkplugs and instert a spark tester into the sparkplug wire and crank the engine around and observe that there is spark, if theres spark remove all spark plugs and perform a compression test the compression should be no lower then 180 PSI for that engine, next if theres no spark unplug the 4 wire connector from the coil pack and with an ohm meter ohm across the purple and yellow wire the resistance of the crankshaft position sensor should be between 700 and 900 OHMs if its not replace the crankshaft posistion sensor its located behind the engine in back of the starter, if you dont have fuel pressure check the fuel pump relay and fuse, if they both are okay then the pump is probably bad and you will have to drop the gas tank to access the pump.
