Speedometer wont work
Could be the speedometer or the speed sensor in the transmission.A mechanic would check the sensor with a meter. If the check engine light is on you should get the computer scanned for codes to see if the speed sensor has failed.

96 Saturn sw2. While driving in gear there is a
Simple test - put the gearbox in first , run the car at idle and listen, now put it in neutral, fully stopped, release the clutch and listen : if the noise is quieter then the defect is in one of the bearings from the shafts inside the gearbox; if the noise is louder is in one of the gear sprockets or its synchro rings.
In either case the gearbox will have to be dismantled and the faulty part replaced a job only a repair shop can do. It will be expensive so be prepared for a stiff bill.

I have a 1994 Saturn SW2 that needs a O2 censor.
The main sensor is mounted on or just in front of the catalytic converter. On a V6, there are usually two converters and two sensors. The device itself looks something like a spark plug, but has a wire bundle and connector attached. There is a special socket made for working with sensors and is usually fairly inexpensive. Disconnect the connector before the removing the sensor. Good luck!

Loose power
The ticking I have no idea. Losing power and sputtering could be a number of problems, bad wiring harness, a short, a sensor, bad injectors, clog in a fuel line perhaps.

High RPM at idle or shift gears
My 94SW had the same problem, after changing many parts with no effect, the problem went away with a new MAP sensor. And my gas mileage went back to where it should have been.

My 93 Saturn SW2 begins to overheat when idling
Sounds like a relay or fuse problem, at worst it's your fan #1 has gone bad and needs to be replaced. Before replacing anything, check all your fuses, relay, wire leads and harness at the fan.
Good luck and thank you for using Fixya.

Heat/air blower faded in and out...sort of like
If the blower motor relay, fuse, and switch have voltage to them, check to see if there is voltage at the blower motor itself with the fan switch on. If not, trace back to switch for fault. If there is voltage at the motor, replace the blower motor/fan assembly.
