Did you see them replace the belt ??? Its a complicated process, and should have taken several hours to replace. Mechanics sometimes lie. If it was replaced, it's possible the failure occured from lack of oil, metal fatigue, hydraulic lifters can break, valves can drop into engines, any number of things can go wrong. Unless you pay to have someone open the engine back up, there's really no way to positively prove what happened.

I can suggest though heading down to your local auto parts store and consulting the Haynes manual for the specific model and engine size of your car. I think it is the ECU (Electronic Computer Module) that had a glitch in it. If it happens again try to remove the battery negative cable for a few minutes then reconnecting it again. If it starts, it just re-programmed itself. Make sure everything is off when you do this. Radio, heater, everything.

the starter is located on the bottom side of the engine back towards the transmission. you'll need to crawl under the vehicle to see it.

Looking at the power distribution diagrams for your vehicle, There are no common denominators between the radio circuits and the turn signal circuits that will not ALSO take out a BUNCH of other things.If these are the only two malfunctions that you have, then I would have to say that they are completely seperate problems and each should be diagnosed on its own merit. - like mabe something like a bad turn signal flasher unit and a short in one of the radio circuits that has caused one of the three fuses to the radio to blow.....Proper diagnosis required.

I had one of those, and I noticed the same exact thing. I had three S series Saturns and was struck with what a radical change for the worse Saturn took with the L series. They are not around any more and finding a GM dealer who can work on them is futile; they scratch their heads like you just wheeled in an airplane. Anyhow I always suspected, and intended to replace, the little thumbwheel rheostat which controls the brightness of the dashlights. I traded it off for a Hyundai Wagon which has half the interior room and gets 10MPG less than the Saturn. Try and find a new switch at
www.getsaturnparts.com. Look around on youtube.com for a video of someone pulling an L Saturn dashboard or get a repair manual on eBay to see how to replace it.

get it checked when the check engine light blinks it is major! take it to a auto parts store like autozone they should check it for free

no you dont.its a gimmick, we used to sell them to. it does clean out your engine but i dont think is does a thing to make your engine last longer or make it run better

First, make sure there is a diagram on one of the stickers under the hood showing the belt routing. If not, draw one -- don't count on your memory. One of the pulleys will be a tensioner which will move with a wrench on the nut in the center. Move the tensioner away from the belt and slide the belt off of one of the pulleys near the top that is easy to slide it off of. Pull the belt off of all of the pulleys. Then, put the new belt on, starting at the bottom pulley. Once it is around all but the one you slid it off of in the beginning, make sure it is in the grooves on each pulley (not hanging off the side) Move the tensioner pulley again and slide it onto the last pulley and release the tensioner. Make sure it is in all of the grooves like it's supposed to again. Start the car and make sure it is running straight. Let me know if you need more help with this.
