If the alternator is over then under charging the most likely cause is the internal voltage regulator.If the Alt. was bench tested properly this should have been isolated.If the belt were loose you would have primarily an undercharging condition,not both.The only other thing to check is the connections at the battery and the alternator to make sure they are clean,dry,tight and free from corrosion.

I would pass on the car my friend..the two things that you dont want wrong with a car when you buy it, the motor and the trans...this one has the possibility of having both problems...needs new trans for sure and the engine losing all power is just a gamble.. porsches are one of the most expensive cars there is to get fixed and they need fixing all the time even when theyre new

if it is manual , usually they just unscrew , righty tighty lefty loosey, if its an automatic, they may have one small screw on the bottom somewhere, or youll just push in the buttons and pull straight up on it :)

A voltage regulator is just that. You need an auto electrician to diagnose the fault. It would be possible but You will need to literally tear the entire car apart to do it; parts, even out of the junk yard, will cost way more than the car is worth. And the Vin # would show manual trany try to explain that to insurance company, dealer, buyer. Probably not a good idea.

Check for chewed wires and replace/rewire as required.
