2001 Jaguar XJ8 - Page 7 Questions & Answers
I'm experiencing rough/rocking idle of the engine.
check for air leaks or vacuum leaks around intake at the throttle body, be sure the rubber on the plastic of the air intake is sealing on the throttle body. may also have bad valve cover gaskets allowing oil into spark plug holes deteriorating the coil boots and causing a misfire.plugs will be good til about 80,000miles
I put in a new battery and the alarm remote does
Couple of times when you replace the remote battery, you might
have them not working/ responding but just follow the procedure below.
Stand
close to the car, hold down the open and close knobs for about 10
seconds. Press them at the same time for 3 seconds; then press the open
button as the car opens.
The above procedure is applicable to a lot of car brands. It does not matter how many knobs you might have on the remote fob.
I have carried this procedure out on a lot of brands ranging from Honda, Toyota, Rover, Ford, etc. and it works perfectly well.
Good luck and Rate this.
Cheers
1998 xj8 sunroof timing
not an easy task, remove the module line up the lines on the teeth, and reinstall...takes alot of turning to line them up.....the white lil gears have lines that must be mated when the sunroof in closed position.
Hi, A service center just recommended an engine
I'm guessing they mean the cooling system. It is a good idea with any engine to have it flushed periodically. Permanent antifreeze is not permanent. It needs to be repaced regularly and it is a good idea to flush the system to clean out loose gunk when you do this. Unless Jaguar says NOT to do it, it should be done especially if it has never been done on your car. Hope this helps.
Xj8 engine management light has come on
Do you want to repair the vehicle, or just want to know what the light means?
If you want to repair, take the car to an AutoZone or O'Reilly's and have them read the codes. WRITE THEM DOWN, and report back here.
My gearbox warning light went on and Ive had a
the control module may have intermit problem no way to diag until something actually failes or a code is stored no check eng light right.
-------
These are relatively simple devices, the engine rotates and torque is produced by a turning effort (load), the clutch or fluid flywheel transfers this energy into the gearbox which then through gearing increases the effort provided, in other words, the input torque is multipled by the gearing to the output shaft which makes a car accelerate.
-----
the best option is to get the car diagnosed and get the codes.because both the problems are possible.it can be transmission problem or the electronic module failure problem.
yes , but transmission problem is rare ,but it cannot be ignored.
so if the codes are with you.then the exact fault can be confirmed.at www.autozone.com its free to get car diagnosed and getting codes.
This will help. Thanks please keep
updated.please do rate the solution positively .thank you for using fixya
Where to check transmission fluid on a 2001 jaguar
If there is a red dipstick, check it from here.
If no dipstick, then you will have to go from underneath and look at tranny. There will be two plugs on tranny. A lower drain plug and upper fill plug. You can remove the upper fill plug, put finger in the whole and you should be able to feel the fluid. If not, add some, You can use a rubber hose and funnel or top with hose on bottle to help fill it up
My 1997 jaguar xj6 blows air but no heat. Can
the only thing that can change the air from hot to cold, or vice versa is the blender door. under your dash is a box which has 2 compartments. one with your heater core which is hot and one with ac which is cold. the blender door basically diverts which on the air in your car is being drawn from. if it is cold, air is moving on the ac side. if its hot, air is moving through the heater core side. if its warm, the door is in the middle. your temperature control knob is conecteted to an actuator, which moves that door. the actuator is a motor, but if it goes out, the door will be stuck on whichever side it is on. i would check that first. hope this helps
Milky white fluid on oil dip stick,, engine vibrates when idleing
Hi Joseph,
That white fluid is emulsified oil and water. Coolant is getting mixed with the oil and the engine whips it into a sort of milkshake.
The head gasket probably failed along on or more of the cylinders. This would explain both the oil/water and the rough running. Have you noticed a loss of power?
I'd run a compression test to confirm it. But it sounds like you need to replace the head gasket.
Sorry about the bad news,
Mike
I am running a wire from dash to driver's side
The Jaguar chrome strip is magnetic. Simply lift one corner with a sharp object (e.g. wood chisel) and pull it up carefully. This will reveal several Torque screws. Undo the Torque screws and you will be able to complete the job. Good luck.
My 97 xj6 sunroof is not working it is 1/4-1/2 in
yes. that is if the cables are not completely shredded. your car came with a tool that sort of looks like a figure "S". the roof center panel in front of sunroof pops off. you can then fit the tool into the socket and manually turn until roof is closed. (you can find this info in the owners manual)
The car stops suddenly and goes into FAILSAFE
sounds like an ignition module issue and lazy mechanics. please you have a high end car, take it to a high end professional. other issues could include fuel pump and/or relay. be careful out there. everybody is a "mechanic"!
Where do you add trasmission fluid to a 2001
because of the sensitivity of some of these higher end cars i strongly recomend that you take this car to the dealer and allow a jaguar trained tech instruct you on this. youll be happier for it.
