2002 Jaguar XJ8 VDP....installed new battery (more
It is posible that the extra boost has blown the ignition fuse. Look under the dash on the left or right hand drivers side and find the fuse box. On the outer cover should be a diagram of the fuses installed. Look for ignition. If you don't have a daigrm then start pulling fuses one at a time and checking the wire in the fuse to see if it has seperated, (Melted), and replace it. There may be more then one fuse that burnt so check them all and replace them back in the same spot. This is why i say one at a time. Some vehicles have an ignition fuse under the hood as well. If you can't find the fuse in the car then look out under the hood. Some of these fuses under the hood will be larger but should have a window to look in and check for damage. Let me say this first before you go fuse hunting. When trying to start does it turn over good and fast. If it is a sluggish turn over then recheck the battery termanals to be sure they are tight and cleaned of all corrosion. You should not be able to twist the cable end with your hand. Let me know how it turns out. I hope I have been of some help, Good Luck, The Raz

How do I replace exhaust manifold gasket on a 2002
Get an acetylene torch - you will need it to loosen all of the rusted bolts. Remove the bolts holding the manifold to the head. Slide theold gasket out and slide the new one in. Insert the bolts and torque them to spec . . . Voilla!! All finished!!!
2001 Jaguar XJ8 Vanden Plas
Yes it does have a cut switch, located on the fire wall in the engine compactment. If you push the black button it will reset it.

The emergency fuel shut off is located in the driver footwell (UK car) on the right hand side in a cut out int he plastic trim.
On top of this there is a rubber coated switch whixh you can press.
If the shut off has activated you will hear and feel a small click when this is pressed.

When you run out of fuel the pump speeds up alot as it has nothing to pump, some XJ8`s that have suffered from this have been known to burn the wiring & connectors at the fuel pump & sometimes the pump itself.
The pump is located inside the top of tank which is in the boot (trunk) behind the back seat. it cant be accessed in situ due to there being no clearance.
Removal of the tank is not easy & is best left to a Jaguar specialist.
If you do attempt it, please disconnect & remove the battery for at least an hour beforehand, empty tanks explode alot easier than full ones so you dont want a spark!
This will help. Thanks please keep
updated.please do rate the solution positively .thank you for using fixya

Hey. You need to check the volatage on the battery with car switched on. Anything less that 14 volts that means that batt is not charging. ALso could be a faultuy batt considering youve had the alt changed .
Runs rough and says
This is likely a misfire condition but needs to be scanned for codes. Any OBD2 scanner will pick up these codes except for Jaguar specific propriortary codes(manufacturer specific) to which they may not give you definitions. Once these are obtained let me know and we can systematically pick it apart and fix the issue.
I ran out of gas and after fueling the car it
if you ran completely out of gas you may have harmed the fuel pump, the gas is what keeps the fuel pump bearings lubricated.there is one thing you can try that has work alot of times in my line of work, the pump could just be stuck and you have one chance to get it going again, have a friend try to start your car while you hit the bottom of the fuel tank with a hammer, sometimes this vibration will unlodge the pump
