Not sure here to be honest i would suggest the dealer ,this fault could be electronic and as such will need the dealer diagnostic software ,think this one will respond to the ford software for a mondeo ,have had this fault before on other models and it was the mass air flow sensor and running a seperate earth back to the battery cured it (opel zaffiro) but this one iam not sure also you havent stated as to if its a petrol or a diesel variant.whatever it is i have a funny feeling this is a electronic fault and its going to cost a small packet to put right but i could be wrong as i often am

have your engine scoped it's probably a hidden code (maybe fuel)

ENGINE STAALING OUT WHILE DRIVING COULD BE STOPPED UP FUEL FILTER, FAULTY FUEL PUMP,CODE SCAN FOR FAULTY IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE,FAULTY MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR,VACUUM LEAK CAUSED BY PCV OR EGR SOLENOID STUCK OPEN.IF ENGINE STALLS OUT AFTER HARD DRIVING CHECK TO MAKE SURE ENGINE NOT OVER HEATING.

sounds like the torque converter is going out...I remember on some of the xj8 and xjr models in the x350 class had these issues...the signs were a surge in the rpm cluster at about 50mph and when you attempt to pass or kick down it will ****....but as you get higher in speed it eventually smooths out...This is my insight for your issues...If it was the transmission control module it would throw a definite code.....Usually this issue with the converter was with the earlier vin models ranging in g00 to g400 numbers....and a few others

THE ENGINE WORKS ON PRESSURE SO IT IS BEING FORCED OUT FROM SOMEWHERE, CHECK ALL PIPES AT NORMAL RUNNING TEMPS, ALSO CHECK THE INSIDE OF YOUR OIL FILL CAP IF IT IS SHOWING GREYISH SLIME IME AFRAID YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE CYLINDERHEAD

you need to have the car scanned for freeze frame data code reading to see what happened at the time of the limp mode...Let me say that at times after heavy rain or even if you wet the fire wall near the throttle body, that can also cause the limp mode coupled with brake, dcs,and gear box fault and engine fault lights etc...You can actually do a hard reset yourself by disconnecting the neg battery terminal for 30 min..Let the car run and take it for a drive to make sure the shift points arent jerky.But have the car scanned and let me know what code comes up.

Had a simular problem I found by getting up the back of the unit from the floor I could get to the lock and it came open from the inside in my case I got paperwork jammed up inside.I was able to move the offending item. It is not easy if your a big person??

not sure completely as models do change but i think it has little clips on the plastic hoses and they either push in or pull out ,depends on what supplier delivered the parts to the assembly line at that point in time .It may even pay to renew these as well as they invariable break when trying to remove them ,similar type fittings are used on some peugeot engines and citreons as well and i alway end up breaking these as well as the plastic goes brittle after time.Like the headlights go dull and need a polish ,dashboard splits and the plastic bumpers crack.watch your hands when working with these plastic components and they can rip your hands to pieces and i find its easier to araldite plastic components back together rather than have stitches or plasters on my hands .

its a factory scam for u to take it to them how ever turn the key switch on off five times in then push the throthle five more of course with the ingition on it should do the trick if not take it to some one that has a scaner and clear the codes its like fithty bukes well at least for me to baroow in charge lol

There is no reason for pulling the heads off, but coils about $80 each. If you have the V-8, that would be $640 if they replaced all coils. I would never do that. I would test each one. It isn't even hard to do. A tune up is usually plugs only. Then if the codes do not clear, you would start testing coils (not replacing them). Is there another shop you can go to?

Apparently, there is no dip stick on Jag S-type. It sounds like there may be a "level" plug in the drain plug underneath, and a fill plug in the side of the transmission. Some additional clues at:

Jaguar S Type MY 2004:
DTC fault code (EOBD Code): P0171 - Fault location = System too lean, bank 1. (Bank 1 is the right side of the car "V" cylinder block).
Probable cause: Intake / exhaust leak, air system, MAF / VAF sensor, fuel pressure / fuel pump, injector(s), heated oxygen sensor HO2S.

Instructions:
1. Check for air leaks on the intake and exhaust systems. Repair & replace bad pieces if necessary.
2. Check the air system components - harness, connections.
3. Check and replace if necessary MAF / VAF sensor. MAF = Mass Air Flow, VAF = Volume Air Flow, sensor.
4. Check the fuel pressure. Replace the fuel pump and injectors if necessary.
5. Check and replace if necessary the bank 1 heated oxygen sensor HO2S.

There are a number of drive cycles that the car needs to go though before the ECU will set itself up correctly. This should happen over time but sometimes it's worth following the drive cycle requirements to speed things along. Check out http://www.bluejag.co.uk for details on engine drive cycles/

Yes you can self adjust the headlight.But it cannot be over adjusted.If its over tighten/adjusted then the assembly can get cracked or bulb itself can get faulty. Also if the headlights not working on high beam and only on low beam then the bulbs connections needs to be checked to the headlight. ---------------- Thanks.Helpmech.
