99 Saturn sc2 will not start after sitting

Check the oil, crankcase, for fuel,if it has fuel in the crankcase,in the oil, this will happen.I would say the initial problem is in the coolant sensor,it controls spark, and fuel pulse, and air mixture, threw the computer. Now this may have been the problem that started the problem in the first place, but check the oil ,to make sure there is not any fuel present,if so,drain, and refill, then replace the coolant sensor, check the air cleaner for restrictions.Let me know what happens,I will try and help.Ron.

I can't shift into first or second gear of my 1996

Assuming this is a manual transmission, most likely the bushing which connects the shifter to the shifter cable has gone bad. Pull the boot around the shifter up and take a look. These are available on ebay and you can install them yourself, assuming you have basic tools. Common Saturn problem, most likely find a how to a video on youtube.

Shift linkage for standard transmission

There are several vendors, OK maybe only 3 or 4, selling a shifter bushing repair kit on ebay for manual shift S series Saturns 91-99. I have read about what a common problem this is though I have never had it; and I have had 4 manual shift Saturns ....... knock wood. Anyhow I bought a kit, about 20 bucks, and keep it in a bag tucked under neath the shifter boot, 2 small parts and instructions seem straightforward. Note to fix this a dealer will sell you new cables and install them, very expensive!

1999 saturn s series 4 cyl. has code po405 already

Hi. This code has come up for two possible reasons. the actual new egr valve has become clogged by the increasing amount of carbon that has built up in the intake manifold. when replacing th egr valve, its a good rule of thumb to use a cleaning solution to cleanse the hole that the egr valve is inserted in. make sure you clean it thoroughly inside as well. This method is good but, it dosen't always work so, the next level of cleaning the intake is to remove it and clean it manually. the next possible issue could be that the wire connectors are worn. this is highly unusual but, it may be the issue here.

Please rate and god bless:)

No heat

This sounds like one of two things, either there is not enough coolant in the system, or the heater control system is messed up. try this, with your car running at about 205 degrees (feel the upper radiator hose, it should be hot to the touch) grab both of the hoses going into the heater core behind the engine, the should be warm to hot. if they're not warm at all, or just luke warm, you either don't have enough coolant, or the hoses are blocked somewhere. if there is a valve in line with one of the hoses, try to operate it by hand, sometimes those valves (called heater valves) fail.

if the coolant is full and there is hot coolant in both hoses going into the heater core, then you're controls inside are likely the problem. try to turn the heat control from cold to hot and back again a few times, you should be able to hear a clapping sound,it might be very faint, so listen carefully. if you can't hear anything, it's likely the controls itself, unless you hear a hissing sound from behind the dash when you turn the control, that would be a vaccuum line unhooked. you'll have to pull some panels under the dash to find this vaccuum line to hook it up, but it's not too hard , just takes patience. (it's more common for a heater control to go first)
