MY DOOR ON A KIA RIO WONT OPEN THE LOCK DOES NOT WORK
My 2002 Kia Rio with manual locks also wouldn't unlock. the connecting rods would bend enough that I could pull the inside plunger up or turn the key, but in either case it would snap back when I let go, and the door remained locked.
The problem is a broken spring at the latch mechanism. Getting it unlocked is a matter of wiggling and banging the handles and lock until the lever the spring is supposed to control moves. The lever is in line with the car, so gravity might help if you park facing uphill or downhill. I wish I'd inspected the latch carefully enough to tell which.
Once the door is open, remove the interior door panel. The hard part is the window crank: push the heavy wire clip off the crank's shaft between the crank and the panel. Save the plastic sheet inside the panel; it protects the mechanisms from collecting moisture in your interior and rusting. A few screws and a snap or two will allow you to lift the panel up off the inside lip of the window.
The latch is held in by the 3 big screws in the door's edge, but you also need to disconnect some connecting rods that go to the various latch and lock handles. The plastic clips that hold the rods into their levers can be rotated to unsnap from the rod, the the rod can be pulled easily our of the clip. You'll see when you try it.
On mine, I found a broken spring that had connected two hooks right across the top of the latch mechanism. I came online to find a replacement spring or mechanism and ended up here, but my rubber band I cut from a bicycle inner tube is working fine for now.
Go ahead. Say something about fixing a broken Kia with a rubber band.

Hey i have a Kia Rio 2002 my check engine light goes on ,, i got those codes p 0442 p0455 and p0456 the technician siad the the pipe was rusted so he change it for me .. but after 2 days the light comes back and i check it again and i got the same errors...so what i have to do? and i also smell a gas inside the car as if there is a leak in the tank...so could any one help me asap plz
check the fuel line hose near the fuel regulator for wear as they tend to leak or corrode causing a gas smell inside the car. My 2000 Kia Sportage just had the same problem with the gas smell inside the car.

2002 kia rio stalls when coming to a stop if the gas is not applied
My personnel fix for this.
Here are some of the causes of surges, stalls at stops, slow idle speed, erratic idle speed, rough idle and engine hesitation (and other problems), it is in most cases the idle speed control air-bypass valve and or throttle valve and upper intake, these area's get full of gunk and combustion residue over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls, low idle) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake.

I have a 02 Kia Rio, I changed the timing belt at 66 thousand and change. Im up to 126,370 approx. I know the manual states to change the timing belt every 60,000 miles but is that the case? I ask because Im going about 70 miles one way then 70 miles back.
yes, this is VERY IMPORTANT, this is an interference engine, meaning the valves and the piston cannot be in the same place at the same time,or it will bend the valves.then you are looking at a major repair job, think or it as insurance on your engine. please rate my fix as i strive to be the best, questions, get back to me

how do i change the spark plugs on a 2003 kia rio
INSPECTION
1. Disconnect high-tension code from spark plug.
2. Remove the spark plug.
3. Connect the spark plug to a high tension code.
4. Hold the spark plug with insulated pliers 5~10mm from a ground.
5. Crank the engine and verify that there is a strong blue spark.
If there is no spark, inspect the following points.
Step Inspection Action
1 Check for good connection of ignition coil Yes Go to next stop.
No Repair or replace
2 Check if resistance of high-tension leads are OK Yes Go to next step.
No Replace
3 Check if the ignition coil is electrically charged
1) Ignition switch "ON"
2) Check if the engine coil (+) is electrically charged
Yes Go to next step
No Check the wire harness between ignition switch ignition coil and ECM
4 Check if resistance of ignition coil is OK
Resistance
Primary : 0.36~0.44Ω (at 68°F (20°C))
Secondary : 10.9~13.3kΩ (at 68°F (20°C)) Yes Go to next step
No Replace
5 Check if ECM is OK Yes
No Replace
REMOVAL
Do not attempt any maintenance on spark plug if engine is hot.
1. Disconnect negative battery terminal.
2. Carefully remove high-tension leads.
3. Use compressed air to blow any dirt or debris from around spark plug hole.
4. Check that spark plug fits squarely in spark plug socket and remove spark plug.
Raise a vehicle and install SST(OK552 131 001) in order to replace cylinder 2, 4, 6 spark plug.
INSTALLATION
1. Install spark plug into cylinder head.
Tightening torque : 18~22lb-ft (25~30N·m, 2.5~3.0kg-m)
2. Reconnect high-tension leads.
3. Reconnect negative battery cable.

2002 kia rio, where is the crankshaft position sensor? code p0335
A crankshaft position (CKP) sensor is mounted on
the front of transmission case adjacent to the flywheel. The CKP sensor
is a hall-effect type sensor that generates voltage using a sensor and a
target wheel mounted on the crankshaft. There are 58 slots and one
longer slot on the target wheel. When the slot in the wheel aligns with
the sensor, the sensor voltage output is low (approx. 0V). and it is
high (approx.5V) when a slot is not aligned with the sensor. During one
crankshaft rotation there are 58 rectangular signals and one longer
signal. The ECM calculates the frequency to compute engine rpm to
determine the injection duration and ignition timing. Using the signal
differences caused by the longer slot, ECM identifies which cylinder is
on top dead center
P0335 Crankshaft Position Sensor Malfunction - Circuit A.
Hope helpes (remember rated this help).

crankshaft position sensor location for 2002 kia rio
It is on top drivers side just right of the exhaust manifold. It has one bolt and a cannon plug that has a clip that has to be removed before you can take it off

Idles rough, ok at higher rpm . plugs look like fuel is rich
Could be many things but it sounds like your idle air control valve. It should be on top of the throttle body. I'm not sure on this vehicle. It is a accordian like diaphragm in a housing, They get clogged with carbon. Usually attached with 2 bolts and a sensor connector. Easily cleaned out with carb. cleaner. This will throw a code if the diaphragm is letting too much or too little air in to the fuel mixture. It may also be a vacuum leak. You can spray very short burst of ether around the intake manifold, if the engine races you have a vacuum leak. I have never had a fire but have always had a fire extinquisher within reach . USE COMMON SENSE.
Good luck. p.s. DON'T SMOKE AND KEEP CHILDREN AWAY!
