Yes, the engine in the 2002 Kia is and Interference fit engine. Meaning if the belt breaks there is a possibility of valve, piston damage. The 2.4L, 4 cylinder and the 2.5L, 2.7L v6 are all Interference type engines. Sorry, The engine is not ruined but may have some damage that may be costly to repair.

check connection or replace sender at gearbox ? water kills them .

make sure that the coils, ( the ac radiator ) are clean , blow them out with an air hose if you can get a hold of one, also, make sure the ac fan is coming on, it may start , but the sensor may be bad allowing it to turn off too soon , a normal rise in heat is expected when using the AC but if it is too hot you should feel the motor start to run rough, if its running fine, and the temp does move back to normal when the ac is turned off, and a qualified mechanic has checked it, your probably ok, you could have a sensitive gauge, , If the normal range of the gauge moves to hot and back during normal driving without the ac on, that would show the thermostat is also working

You need to have the EVAP System tested
or checked out, with an Evap Smoke Machine
& Scan Tool

Your correct,the vent solenoid valve may be bad.

You vehicle should have an AC relay to control the fan when the AC is on. It is located under the hood in a power distribution box with a removeable lid. The lid should have a list of the area where the relay connects to the connection port. The relay is most likely the issue and is very common to fail.

• When looking under the hood the oil cap is located towards the front of the car about midway on the engine. See red arrow on the pic I put up for location also.

now what do you want to change from a proper system that we all understand to some obsolete outdated victorian invention,well the truth of the matter is this vehicle will only work in the correct celcius system and i dont think it will convert
