My daughter broke the Key off in her ignition, and after removing the parts around the ignition switch, I cannot figure out how the ignition switch can be removed to get the broken key out. Any help would be deeply appreciated.
if you go buy a new switch you may understand this better. but here goes the bolts that hold the switch to the colum are antitheft. the bolt head will brake off when you tighten them. you should have cone shaped round bolts holding the switch on. you will need a chisel and hammer to get the old ones out. good luck. hope this is helpful. you need to see the new bolts. that come with the new switch to fully understand.

Our 2000 Kia Sportage runs rough when stopped or slow many times, other times it does not run rough at all, when idling at a stop sign etc.
Is their a sensor that controls gas to air ratio or should I try something else.
Kia Sportage 2000,EX, 4 cyl., 2 litre, 4 wheel drive.
I thank you for your help.
Yes there is a sensor that controls Fuel/air ratio. It's called a MAF (mass air flow sensor)
But I think you should have the EGR (Exhaust gas recirculation)valve checked
and The TPS (throttle position sensor)maybe dirty.
Although may things can cause this issue,I would look at the items above first.
Please rate this a blue fixya

Hello,
I have a 2001 Kia Sportage. It was running fine until 4 days ago when it just wouldn't start one morning.. The starter turns over but it will not start like it's not getting any gas. I changed the fuel pump with a brand new one, but it still won't start. I checked the fuse box and the one for the fuel pump is fine. Could it be the relay?
yep a bad relay will cause fuel pump problems.

what is the timing marks for a 2000 kia sportage?
the timing marks are as follows... if you are not able to see the picture the intake cam gear will line up with the mating mark on the rear cover .... the "I" needs to be straight up... the exhaust cam the E needs to be straight up. the crankshaft mark is a nothch in the rear of the crank gear which needs to line up with a pointer on the front of the aluminum oil pump housing. the keyway on the crank needs to be vertical. the marks on the rear cover are dimples in the cover. this is an interferance engine DO NOT ROTATE CRANK OR CAMS WITH BELT OFF. IF YOU HAVE BROKEN THE TIMING BELT DAMAGE TO ENGINE HAS ALREADY OCCURED AND YOU WILL NEED A VALVE JOB!!!! there is no exception on this engine. if you have tried to crank it over and the belt is broken the head is no good!

I have problems with the distribution phase of the strap I have points of reference. please send me a picture? Thank you. (Kia Sportage 2000TD 2000)
WARNING
On interference engines, it is very important to replace the

damage will likely result if the belt fails.

HOLD light blinking
Hello Betty - This is a fault for no ECT (engine coolant temperature) sensor signal from the ECU to the TCM. This information was taken from the Kia website. I hope this helps.

put new fuel pump in won't start now getting P1624 code what is this
That code means their is a communication problem between the TCM (Transmission Control Module) and ECM (Electronic Control Module). The issue is normally with the TCM. but it is possible you have wiring problems. I would replace the TCM. It is located to the side of the drivers left foot.
