1998 Kia Sephia sometimes starts, and reving itself up.. HELP!!!

i too would say fuel pump or the fuel pump pressure regulator or even the fuel pressure sensor it maintains a set of constant pressure to the vehicle

however what your also describing is possible head gasket leak which will cause the vehicle to do this ..as well are all your vacuum lines connected and not dry0rotted allowing it to **** air as well as i would recommend finding out the exact fuel pressure to the vehicle to help determine it i know for a fact if its off so much as 1 lb of pressure it wont stay running you seem to have covered the fuel system but find out from a parts store the proper lbs of pressure as well as the vehicle is not grounding out
but the raise of acceleration would point to a vacuum line disconnected or rotted maby a bad gasket
you could check the plug wires for an arc with a spray bottle of water and with the vehicle running if possible spray the wires and look for a blue or yellow arc ..as well as it may be a number of things i would 1st start here with my suggestions ........completely hope this helps you

1998 ford escort started losing power on

IT SOUNDS LIKE THE EXHAUST IS BLOWING AT THE MANIFOLD. THERE MAY BE A CRACK IN THE MANIFOLD ITSELF, OR THE MANIFOLD GASKET MAY HAVE FAILED. THE SOUND OF THE AIR ESCAPING UNDER PRESSURE CAN OFTEN BE MISTAKEN FOR A CLICKING NOISE.

Will not Charge

The battery may have gone bad and not holding or taking a charge now. If the battery has not been replaced and is older then 4 years, there is a good chance that it's the battery that is causing your problem. Good luck and keep me posted, if you can swap battery's with the other car your using to boost the Sephia with. Try swapping the battery's and see if there is any starting and running issues

How often to change the engine oil for the kia

Change your oil every 5,000 kilometres and change your oil and filter every 10,000 kilometres unless you are doing a lot of k's then do it sooner as it loses it's viscosity. It's cheaper in the long run - believe me.

My kia Sephia radio does not work. How can I fix

Check the fuses first. If it's not a fuse, you're looking at a trip to a dealer, or replacing it. Crutchfield (www.crutchfield.com) is a great do-it-yourself radio seller. They give you all the hardware you need and great instructions.

Can I get a diagram of replacing the downstream o2

Hello adam...i suspect you are getting the P0140 O2 sensor circuit no activity (Bank 1 Sensor 2) fault code on your Kia?
The "downstream" O2 sensor will be BEHIND the catalyst converter and is tuned into the PCM map. Simply remove and replace. Typically this code is set due to a clogged or failed sensor, a poor connection, or an open circuit.
The P0420 code is typically a clogged or defective cat.
Good luck..i hope this helps..please rate me a fixya.

Erratic idling revs up and down, check engine

There is a small electric motor call IDLE AIR CONTROL (IAC).

It add rpm when there is load like headlight, radio, power window while you at idle.

Just to bump up the power a little to keep everything operate smoothly.

When IAC is not functioning it will give you uneven idle.

Get the OBD-II code and repost. It will help you to get to the real problem.

OBD-II connector is 18" from the center of the lower dashboard. Scanner is about $50 to start.
