Power door locks will not remain locked, they pop
This is a problem with the ignition switch, it thinks the key is still in the ignition, the internal switch may be stuck , start by spraying a little silicone into key hole then put key in and start car then remove key, do this a few times and spray a few times but just a little spray. hope this helps.
Gear stick stuck in Park and will not move
The shift interlock solenoid is likely failed.
If you do not hear a click when you put your foot on the brake (and the brake lights illuminate) look in your manual for the location of the shift interlock override button. It is usually behind a removeable panel near the shifter.
Stick a pen inside and push the button to temporarily override the solenoid.

My S type, 2002 2.5 l is stuck in Park. Believe it
The s-types have a lot of issues sticking in park when the car is parked on an incline, sometime you can rock the vehicle and release it from park.
They had many issues with the J-gate assemblys and also the shifter cables. If the caris on an incline and you are able to remove it from park then in future you can apply the handbrake before putting the vehicle in park and that will take care of the issue rather than spending tons of money with the stealer. Do not force the shifter as there is a plastic piece which is part of the j-gate that will break and you will then need to purchase a j-gate assembly
Replace a water pump need help asap
Jaguar S TYPE 1999 2000 2001 2002 Service Repair Manual
They only want 10 bucks for it and it would be easier! The only hope i could find was this posting...
Youll need to remove the radiator cowl and the fan and viscous coupling; they all come off in order. Then you need to drain the coolant and take off the hoses going to the thermostat housing which sits on top of the water pump. Theres one bolt in particular right underneath the thermostat housing that almost impossible to access, takes forever. You'll find the bonnet gets in your way too as its forward tilting. Take it off if you can stand the pain. With the thermostat housing removed you can see the water pump; if youre lucky it will come apart easily but more likely youll struggle to get the pulley off and theres hardly any clearance to get at the retaining centre nut. Ignore the book and pull the whole assembly out in one go if you can, dont try to get the pulley off the pump, its a nightmare. Replace the thermostat while your in the pain zone anyway. Reassembly is a straight reversal. The whole thing is a pain in the *** and I'd pay not to do it again. Hope this helps.
Best of luck to ya!
When car is idling it
it could be a spark plug id start there if that doesnt fix it it could be a fuel filter or an injector
Flashing Check Engine Light
Hi, flashing check engine light in car means a lot of things which can be related to any part of the car. So for you to detect what the exact problem is, you have to take the car to Auto zone for the car to be scanned after which a code will be retrieved and interpreted to detect what the problem is.
When my 2002 Jaguar x type had the engine light flasing. I took it to Autozone and had the error codes read it said cylinder 5 misfire and something that had to do with the airflow.
With that the problem was easy to fix...
Take care
Dont get into gears as is stay in park shift to
Check your Automatic Transmission Fluid level with engine on, gear selector in park. Without ATF in there, the clutch packs can not engage.
If your level is between the marks, then it is an internal problem, such as a bad front pump. That means a rebuild - not repair.
Good Luck.
