turning the lights on causes a load on the alternator especially if the belt is loose..tighten the alternator belt and it should stop..may need to put a new belt on too.. that would be better..

You might want to try disconnecting the negative battery cable for 5 minutes and then reconnecting it. This procedure fixed my seat that was not working. It works fine now. I know it sounds too good to be true but it usually works

Need to check this:

1. Check the Engine Control Module (ECM) for water intrusion.

2. If OK, check the output of the crankshaft position sensor, it should be at least 1.0 volts AC.

3. Verify battery voltage (B+) is present at the injector and coil connectors with the key in the on position.
Tip: Water intrusion into the ECM is an issue with mid-90's Jaguars. The ECM is located at the passenger side kick panel and the connectors face up.

Fault code P1178Rich Fuelling Trim, Long Term (AMFR)Check for manifold air leaks, rectify as necessary Check for recorded MAFS fault code, rectify as necessary Clear fault code and perform service drive cycle to verify fault cleared Contact Jaguar Service Hotline if fault still present.

Had same problem, the heater matrix (behind and above) the rear of the stereo leaked water and zapped the unit.

you need to get the fault codes out of the engine control module to help with this one, the favourites are. 1 lambda sensors, 2 catalyst, 3 water in engine control module located rh lower A post due to water ingress,would be good if you monitor live data with diagnostic equipment. could also be mass air flow sensor or fuel pressure
