2004 Hyundai Elantra problems after replacing alternator

Sound to me like some wires were either disturbed or crossed and are shorting out maybe when you replaced the alternator?Maybe have a look at the alternator connections again and make sure everything is correct and tight and that the new alternator is the right one for your car.Other than that its a case of tracing the wires from the alternator to the fusebox to find whats blowing your fuse.

Just bought a 2004 Elantra (93000 miles) with 5

I would be checking the throwout bearing. But, if the clutch isn't slipping, maybe leave it for now?

If you put it in 5th gear, let out the clutch with handbrake applied and it stalls--the clutch isn't slipping for sure.

How do I change the head gasket for a 2004 Hyundai Elantra?

You are going to need some more information. Head bolt torque for one. I would recommend a trip to a parts store to get a manual that will answer your question and help you with future repairs.

I have a problem with cold air from heat vents.

The bypass valve may be stuck open. Try working it manually to see if it is sticking . Valves are usually vacuum or electric . If vacuum actuated, check vacuum lines for cracks or holes. If electric, make sure wiring is intact and properly connected. You may be able to disconnect acuator and manually open valve. Valve may need to be replaced also. Hope this helps. Bob
