If you have the original broken key try putting a mini drop of super glue on broken tip of key ( use a pin or needle to make mini drop) no wider then the width of key excess glue could make key stick in lock, reinstall key if all goes well after 2-3 minutes key will pullout broken piece with it when you remove it . THERE IS A TEMPERATURE SENSOR ON MOTOR WHICH CAUSES THIS PROBLEM... USUALLY IT SHOWS A NEGATIVE TEMP READING WHICH CONFUSES THE COMPUTER CAUSING IT TO REV UP....HAVE THE ENGINE DIAGNOSED ON A SCANNER....GOOD LUCK...

Have you checked base fuel pressure with a gauge ? Can you jumper the pump relay to make the pump run with the key on ? Are you loosing spark when the engine dies ?

Spark problem could be unrelated to timing belt change. Test ignition module (most parts stores will do this free), test coil.

Your fuel injectors and or the fuel filter is clogging

Hi Rod: - Remove serpentine belt. - Unplug/disconnect wires from alternator. It's a good idea to label them. Taking a picture or two also can help. - Unbolt alternator. - Remove.... some vehicles make this awkward by having other bits in the way. Be patient and keep track of what you're doing since you'll have to reverse the procedure to put the new one in.
