How do I know when my camshafts are top dead
Not to worry. The cam gear has marks on it already. When the cams are aligned at Top Dead Center (TDC) the keway for the pulley will be pointing UP and the marks on the edge of the pully will be lined up with the valve cover sealing surface of the cylinder hed. (See picture below)
Sometimes I can't get the trnsmission out of park. The button to select will not engage
I found that if you take a pencil and poke down in the Shift Lock Override hole located on the shifter console, you should feel slight spring pressure, gently push down until it bottoms out, while holding it down shift the shifter out of park. This is not the fix,but it could allow you to use your car until it can be properly repaired. The actual problem is the shifter lock mechanism is not working properly.
Clutch fluid
If you have to ask you are about to have problems adding fluid is something that you shouldn't have to do there is a small resivoir straight ahead of the clutch pedal in engine compartment or it shares fluid with brakes from brake fluid resivoir. It might be non serviceable but no matter what there is repairs in the near future for you or your mechanic.
Where is the 2000 hyundai starter located?
Use the jack to lift up the front of the Elantra and place the
car on the jack stands. Double-check that the Elantra is secure on the jack stands prior to working underneath the car.
2
Disconnect the negative and
positive terminals from the battery using the open-end wrench, removing
the negative first, then the positive.
3
Slide under the Elantra and unbolt the engine cover on the underside of the vehicle using the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket. Remove it and place it out of the way.
4
Locate the starter motor, which
is on the passenger side of the engine, connected to the transmission.
Remove all wiring from the starter using the an open-end wrench or the
ratchet, depending on clearance for tools.
5
Unbolt the starter using the
3/8-inch ratchet, extension and socket, being careful to hold it steady
with one hand while undoing the last bolt. The starter is quite heavy.
P0137 issues changed out manifold new sensor new
Essentially the same as P0136, P0137 refers to the second oxygen sensor on Bank 1. P0137 means the O2 oxygen sensor's voltage remained low for longer than 2 minutes. This, is interpreted by the ECM as a low voltage condition and sets the MIL. Bank 1 Sensor 2 is located to the rear of the catalytic converter and should produce an output signal relative to oxygen storage capacity of the catalytic converter. This rear (sensor 2) sensor is less active than the signal produced by the front sensor. However, if the ECM senses the sensor is inactive, this code will set.
There may be no visible symptoms to the driver, other than the MIL (Check Engine / Service Engine Soon) illumination.
A code P0137 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:
Faulty o2 sensor Exhaust leak near the rear sensor
Plugged catalyst
Short to voltage on O2 signal circuit
High resistance or open on O2 signal circuit

How do I fix the heater
Check your antifreeze level/condition, check thermostat, check heater control valve for leaks/faults. Sorry it took so long to answer.
I have only 47,000 miles on my car but the exhaust smell in the car is bad.
if it smell like rotten eggs then you need to get the catalytic converter removed. if it smells like normal exhaust smell then you either have a hole in your exhaust under the car or the tail pipe is to close to the boot and letting in exhaust gasses. I had the same problem with my toyota hilux and found the exhaust gasses were getting in through the tail of the 4x4 cause the pipe was way to close to the boot
My 2000 hyundai elantra is automatic it has a code
P0734=A/T 4th gear incorrect ratio. This has nothing to do with the speed sensor. If the speed sensor was faulty, it would also set OTHER gear incorrect ratio codes. My experience tells me the 4th gear incorrect ration indicates the torque converter clutch (TCC) is slipping and nothing more. Unless there was a speed sensor DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code), the sensor is not the issue (yet). The fact P0734 was set (trust the computer), the TCC is slipping (out of range). Question: Maintenance history may indicate the wrong transmission fluid may have been introduced. Hyundai's Transmission fluid is strictly SPIII... there is no substitute. The incorrect fluid will cause 4th gear slippage. Now, having said that, it doesn't mean the 4th gear (lock-up) clutch isn't worn out. Have a qualified/certified Hyundai Service Technician properly diagnose this issue.
Turning noise
You most likely have torn outer CV boot and an outer CV joint that is going bad.
I have a 2000 hyundai elantra and it wont start
Hello Jeanette: My name is Roger and I will help you. Your car does not have an inertia switch that can be reset. Check the fuses and also make sure the fuel pump relay works. The relay is located in the passenger compartment relay box. Should say relay box on the cover. If all are in working order you will need to test the fuel pump itself. You do not need to remove the fuel tank to do this. Remove the rear seat lower cousion from the car. Remove the inspection cover to gain access to the pump. Unplug the harness and check for voltage when the key is turned on. SHould you have power at the pump plug ? the most likely problem is the fuel pump. Should you need further help please just ask. Please rate the answere. Thank You for using Fix Ya. Roger
My 2000 Hyunda Elantra returns a P0501 code. Which
The code P0501 indicates that the vehicle speed sensor (VSS) is out of range. This may be due to a bad sensor or bad or dirty wiring/connector. I'm not sure exactly where the sensor is located on the Elantra but it's on the transmission possibly around the differential housing near one of the axle shafts. Hope this help.
