Sputtering, poor acceleration,

When was last service? A bad air filter, a clogged fuel filter would be my first suspects (I have 2002 Disco) might also want to run a bottle of STP gas treatment with next tank of fuel. This time of year lots of condensation forms in fuel tanks with big temp swings. Hope that helps

Codes p1412 p1415

Hi, I am an ASE certified auto repair technician with 35 years experience, specializing in diagnostics. If my answer helped you a positive testimonial is appreciated, good luck with your problem.

These codes tell you the trouble codes listed below have been registered. The most common problem is when the SAI solenoid is bad it only costs about $25 on most models. And it normally only takes 10 minutes to install. I would highly recommend getting a good repair manual to guide you through this, and any future repairs.

P1412 - Secondary air system fault bank 1Drive cycle D:Signal implausible
P1415 - Secondary air system fault bank 2Drive cycle D:Signal implausible

You are posting two different problems all in one little sentence. Problems like these need a number of symptoms and under what conditions they occure to give an idea of what might cause them, without that you won't have much luck solving your problem.

WE HAVE 2004 DISCOVERY W/CODES

Hi.

P1415 which is secondary air injection system malfunction, left bank is consequence of:

P1413

Secondary AIR System Monitor Circuit Malfunction

get-attachment.aspx?uid=1.17321925&folder=new+mail&partid=10

Possible causes:

  • Secondary AIR solenoid power (B+) circuit is open
  • Secondary AIR solenoid circuit is shorted to ground
  • Secondary AIR pump damaged
  • Solid State relay is damaged
  • PCM has failed
If you get no power to relay, then the problem is likely the PCM. Ensure that the pump is not shorted to ground, and that there is no short elsewhere. Double check the relay. The relay does not get energized all the time, ensure that problem is not a faulty relay. Check the PCM connector to ensure that there is no broken contact, use te Ohmmeter with no power to test continuity.

Just ad oil change and

Check the teflon gasket on oil plug and make sure filter is not leaking, take back to where you had oil changed if possible, a sudden leak is usually a cheap fix. Price can vary alot on your gaskets, depending on how hard it is to get to and wich ones need replaced if any, really with that many miles you should still be ok up to 150,000. Good Luck!

Have a TD5 2004 series 11. The service provider

I can't say with certanty that this is fiction but i have never heard of this and i know of these models with in excess of 300,000Kls. An engine block cannot sheer off from the motor as they are the same thing and if the motor was to sheer off from the chassy that would be a motor mount problem and they wouldn't cost $7000.00 to replace. Try contacting a Land Rover owners club. good luck

P1414 P1417 2003 discovery

Those codes are associated with the Secondary Air Injection. I too had the same codes on my 2003 Discovery. From reading Land Rover forums online, I determined that it is likely the Secondary Air Injection Solenoid that has gone bad. It is a $20 part that you can buy on atlanticbritish.com and install yourself without any tools. The hardest part was getting the original solenoid off -- it is simply clipped on with a plastic arm that is built into the part.

Does your Secondary Air Injection come on at random times? Mine would also come on sometimes at stop lights even after the engine had already warmed up. That is another sign that you might have the same problem and need to replace the solenoid. Before I replaced the solenoid, I had turned off the check engine light and noticed it came back on immediately after the secondary air injection went off after starting the truck cold a few times. After replacing the solenoid, I have yet to see the check engine light return.

Hope that helps.
