The fuel pump is installed in the top of the fuel tank, It may be necessary to remove a rear seat OR cut the carpet to get at it. Don\'t assume it is the pump that is failing. The wiring to the pump is a more probably culprit so listen for the pump and/or get a multi meter and check you have power AT THE PUMP before doing anything expensive. Next check the problem is not a blocked fuel line. Leaving the pump in place, first check at the engine end by undoing the nipple and check it by turning on the starting key. If no fuel, check again at the pump itself by undoing the outlet nipple. If you must remove the pump, the plastic lock ring is a right hand thread but it will probably be tight but it can be loosened with a piece of wood and a hammer (be firm but gentle).

This could be the idle control sensor, or the mass air flow metre.

One thing I would do is to remove the thermostat. It is located in the plastic connector below& left of the radiator. There are three hoses going into it. I personally drilled the caps so the Rover cannot overheat. The gauge inside truck cannot be trusted as the heat range is too wide for normal.. Good Luck!

You probably have a vacume leak,this is common with all vehicles!Check for vacume leaks with a spray bottle and soapy water and spray around vacume lines but try not to spray sensors ,

I own a landrover disco 2 and even without problems it only gets about 8mpg.Try giving it a complete tune up.If it's a 4.0 like mine the upper left intake has to be removed to change the plug wires.DIY will run you about 150$ just to change the plug wires with a new Upper Intake gasket!

Good day, There are number of reasons to look into, and i would like to ask this. Does it only happen whilst in drive?. Lets look at two various possibilities. Assuming in park stage, and the gear lever is loose, then the question at hand is answered. A gear lever has routes, some vehicles use ex; electronics, or, cables, or, levers. The routes to the gear box from the gear lever, is depending on these variations. How ever, overhaul symptoms could be that of from dust in the cables to loose endings in the cables or damaged for that purpose. electronics speak for themselves, from switches to fuses to broken or loose wire or sensors. As for levers the connecting rods have some bushes or links that are either broken, worn out, stretched, and so on. If none of the above is valid then a deeper search towards the gear box is not to be left out. Worn synchros or worn balls inside automatics can be causes to a looses gear lever. Although on automatics, the "loose" gear lever symptom could be that of above mentioned.

Had the same problem with my 03 Disco. Went through the usual, checking the fuses, etc. I went ahead and replaced my break light switch on the brake pedal. $15.00 fix, or I thought so; still had the problem! Took it in for repairs and found out it was fuses after all... To get the parking lock to disengage you need to pull of the housing, which is tough and then press in the locking pin at the base of the shift lever to shift out of park. you can do it with the engine running and it will drive just fine until you put it into park again. Check your brake lights if there is a problem. Could be a sign of the brake switch failure. In my case the lights were out, but a cheap trailer rental did the damage. The short in the trailer blew some fuses and it was a problem that cost me $60.00 at the repair shop....
