Noticed oil on left rear disk and think it is the rear axle seal leaking. Checked the brake calliper and appears ok. How is the rear axle removed on the Lincoln towncar? Also, any tips on replacing the seal?
if it is the seal, you will have to remove the caliper and rotor, remove the differential cover and remove the bolt and pin inside the diff carrier housing. push in the axle and remove the axle clip and pull out the axle use a seal puller or prybar to remove seal reverse the steps to assemble

I have a 2001 Towncar. The air bag light comes on in the dash and stays on. What is the significance and suggested action? Thanks,
LQG
1st when the airbag light is on the system is disabled, so if u have an accident they will not work, as to the common cause read below.
When the airbag light is on it means a fault has occurred in the system and the airbag diagnostic monitor has disabled the system, the most common problem that turns the light on is a break in the connection to the steering wheel mounted airbag, this is due to a rotating ribbon contact that breaks under the steering wheel that connects the airbag to the wiring harness and the diagnostic monitor, the part is called th clock spring contact, a coiled up ribbon electrical contact that turns with the wheel

Where is starter relay located on 2001 lincoln towncar? I believe this is my problem. I had a ball joint fall out, fixed that, now will not crank. I can hold key forward and jump the terminals on starter, it will start. No electricity getting to the starter.
the relay should be located in the fuse panel near the battery in the engine compartment

2001 Lincoln town car is squeaking in the front suspension, and when I go over bumps. Is it shocks? Or is it CV joints? Or does it need to be oiled and lobed?
It could be the the struts as I believe you have struts not shocks on your vehicle. I would start with a good lube job as well as check all your front suspention bushings. If all is good there check to make sure your struts are good. They don't need to be totally repalced as you buy an insert to replace them. Look around underneath as someone pushes the car up and down to try to isolate the location of the noise. I hope this helps and good luck.

2001 lincoln town car turn flasher location
There is no external turn signal flasher on a 2001 Town Car. The flasher unit is an internal part of the Lighting Control Module (LCM) and can not be serviced seperately. The LCM is located under the dash to the right of the steering column. It may also be referred to as the MECM (Mutli-Function Electroninc Control Module).
