well you need to take the tank down from the straps then their is a locking ring tap that to get it loose then pull out the old and replace with new. its alot more work then im wrighting but i hope it helps

you can take it to a dealer and have them run a diagnostic on it or simply ask them, you can also buy a tester at autozone that will tell you what is going on

On our Lincoln, the problem was the Alternator shorting and energizing the ground circuit with Positive juice. Our speedometer and odometer were both affected. We had miles advancing and 45-50 MPH at a stop. Then inaccurate readings while the car was moving. i would say the wiper motor is the culprit.
