THERE IS A SOLENOID THAT ALLOWS YOU TO SHIFT OUT OF PARK IF IT GETS IT'S SIGNAL FROM THE BRAKE LITE SWITCH. THIS SOLENOID IS IN THE CONSOLE NEAR THE SHIFTER AND CAN BE HEARD ACTUATING IF YOU PUT YOUR EAR TO THE CONSOLE AND HIT THE BRAKES WITH THE KEY ON. IT WILL CAUSE A BLOCKING DEVICE TO MOVE OUT OF THE WAY AND ALLOW SHIFTING. THIS ABSURD DEVICE IS REQUIRED ON ALL CARS BECAUSE MANY THOUSANDS OF IDIOTS PUT THEIR CARS IN GEAR AT A HIGH IDLE WITHOUT THE BRAKES ON AND PLOWED THRU THEIR GARAGE WALLS. THESE DOLTS THEN SUED THE MANUFACTURERS AND COST EVERYONE MORE THAN THERE BOGUS CLAIM WAS WORTH. THEREFORE THIS INSIPID DEVICE WAS IMPLEMENTED

First thing to check is probably a stuck thermostat. Then the water pump. Head leak. The price and ease of most thermostats is usually replaced first, then further troubleshooting if needed.

Remove the dipstick and using a funnel pour the fluid directly into the transmission dipstick tube

the trunk liner that covers the latch on the trunk is not in the right spot. Align the Liner with the holes in the trunk

The switch which monitors the trunk lid position is out of place or broken. Look around in the trunk for it and see if it has been knocked out of position. If not, you will need to replace it.

check, temperature of upper radiator hose vs. lower radiator hose, also if there are any cold spots in radiator usaully indicates bad thermostat. all hoses and surface of radiator should be hot in order to keep engine cool

Could be several things - you will need to figure out if the cooling system is working or if the engine is producing extra heat such as with a restricted exhaust. Check the radiator fan and the water pump.

there is a coolant cap on the overflow bottle check it for seal
i'd just replace it
also if you put the new thermostat in backward the overheating would be significant

it has own head gasket on #6

Could possibly be a bad water pump ,or clutch on the clutch fan , if it's electric make sure fans are working by turning on defroster .
