Look at the positive cable. Is it corroded. Corrosion will also go into the cable under the rubber coating several inches. Clean it or replace it if it is real bad. Also clean the negative side and check the grounds from the battery. Three main ground wires are, battery engine, battery to body, and engine to body.

Sounds like a fuel problem. With the switch in the "on" position, can you hear the pump running? Crack the union where the fuel line comes up to the injectors, crank the engine to see if fuel comes out. If not, check for power at the fuel pump (in the top of the fuel tank).
