Hi, I have a 2002 x-type jaguar (3 litre), and the dash is showing gearbox fault, the car does not start. HELP!!! I have a 2003 Jaguar X type and the Gear Box Fault message comes up on dash. What is going on with this car?
I have a 2002 X type (2 litre. done 44000 miles), dash showed gear box problem, (red circle light up). I pulled out and turned the engine off. 5 minutes later turned the engine on. The engine running but the car would not drive either in drive or reverse. Turned the engine off again and on the car driving but not much power. The care is taken to the Jag. dealer and told is misfiring + some gear box faults. Suggesting to change some coils and see (cost about £200+). also possible need to change the gear box costing about £2500+. Please advice. Shall I go ahead with the repair? Should I part exchange.

key fob has broke so bought a new one that now needs re-progamming
Your key FOB is easily programmed by yourself without the need of computer, here is how: Push and hold the trip computer button on the left stalk, while holding the button turn the ignition ON and OFF several times untill you hear a confirmation tone from the glovebox area, when the tone is heard, release the button and remove the key from the ignition, immediately after push any button on the Key FOB and you'll hear another tone that confirms the programming.

how to replace a radiator on a type x jaguar?
This is a lengthy process. Start by removing the vanity cover on the engine, the battery with its tray and the filter. Remove the large and small hose from the top of the radiator drivers side. Disconnect the fan harness and the 02 sensor harness in front of the battery tray. remove the O2 harness wires from the clips to free them completely. Remove the fan shroud mounting screws 1 on each side. Raise the car to remove the bumper next. Remove the bumper also starting by removing the lower tray from the wheel well shrouds. There is 1 10mm screw on each side of the bumper and the two next to the head lamps to remove the bumper. Drain the remaining fluid from the radiator from the lower hose drain plug, then detach the hose by lifting the spring clamp. Undo the retaining screws for the AT cooler and AC condensor to set aside. From below you will see the lower radiator support bar held by 4 13mm bolts on each side of the chassis. Remove it and the complete radiator with fan assembly will come down and out thru the bottom of the car. Installation is the reverse. Make sure to use DexCool antifreeze with distilled water or the premixed version when filling. Run until hot with heater on and remove Expansion Tank cap to purge air out of system. The car will do the remainder as time goes by. Just keep an eye on it for a week to fill to proper level as it purges.

How do you connect a mobile phone to a Jaguar X-Type (53 plate) so that you can use it via the built-in controls and does it make it handsfree? It says "No Phone", but do you need a cable or something and where does the phone go?
I do not have my manual in front of me, but certain VIN numbers do not have the bluetooth installed in the car. I have a 2003 Jaguar X-Type and I have a phone button, but my VIN number was not in the range of jaguars that came equipped with the bluetooth. You can get a phone that has bluetooth and test to see if it finds a bluetooth device (your Car Phone Device).

X type 03 2.5 Front Suspension knocks with a real clunk when passing over small bumps at usual driving speed. Typically where a road repair where the tarmac might only be 30mm high by 150mm wide. No noise on larger items like speed humps. Sound almost like mountings are loose. A metallic like thud. Local garage did visual and found nothing wrong. Sail through MOT without problems.
Could be anti roll bar isolator bushes starting to wear or link rods,

What is a c1145 code and c1155?
the error codes you are looking for are
C1145 Speed Wheel Sensor RF Input Circuit Failure
C1155 Speed Wheel Sensor LF Input Circuit Failure
there are many reasons this could be if you recently had tires changed or rotated. it would be good to make sure they did not leave them disconnected. Best to take it to a professional and have it checked out as these are important sensors.
thanks and have a great day

Where is the fuel pump module located? Which wires going to the fuel pump are supposed to have power? 2003 Jaguar x type 2.5
The pump is inside the fuel tank. The wires run from the 3rd wire from the oil sending unit to prime the fuel upon starting, The other runs from the relay. The relay operates the pump after the oil pressure is at the normal PSI range

can not remove the lug nut caps to change my tire
I have an 04 xj8. the lug nuts are a good bad example of half baked engineering. the lug nuts are fabricated from ugly steel with an 11/16 hex end. to beautify this, Jaguar overlays the nut end with a stainless steel 3/4 inch cap, crimped to the nut. On top of this, the nut is to be torqued to 90+ ft-lb! The only way to remove the lug nut without damage is with a SIX POINT socket and a breaker bar or an impact wrench. Using a 12 point socket will deform the cap, causing the wrench to spin on the cap and or the cap to spin on the nut itself. If that has happened, it is possible to recover using a 15 oz or thereabouts ball peen hammer and a deep 3/4 inch impact socket (the black ones). Line up the socket to the cap, doing a best guess to where the flats are and give the socket a light blow. Keep trying that until the socket seems to stick on, then hit it harder. Eventually you will find the right point and the socket will go on and reform the cap. Then a breaker bar can remove the cap/nut. New assemblies can be had for about $6 from "partsbin" or "autohausaz".
