This is almost certainly a split hose - mine was the large hose coming out of the bottom of the EGR valve.

Speaking to a parts guy at my local Jaguar dealer, he said that the new part is uprated as Jaguar are aware that this is a problem.

The split allows more air in and results in the ECU changing the mixture and over fuelling - Black smoke is an indication of un-burnt Diesel. As well as the black smoke you may also notice a whistle/whine or sucking noise when you accelerate and a lack of power / lumpiness at around 2000rpm.

OK - If you are getting the SIG instead of Phone connected in the X Type - You need to enter the code - for the 2007 X Type, the Code is ##3#*# - Which should then say waiting and finally SIG ****** which means it is connectable - To pair your phone, goto bluetooth and pair device, wait until the Jaguar is found. When prompted for the numerical code it is 1313

In most units these days, you should be able to gently pry open the CD tray with power off. If it's one of those that "sucks in" the CD, then you'll have to get inside the dash panel and remove the unit to get the CD out -- or take it to your local sound place (like a car audio place, Best Buy, Federated, etc,) and have them help you out. If it's in a car that is under warranty, take it to the dealer -- which is the ONLY time I would say those words.

You always start with the battery in all testing situations, regardless of what your told If you working on suspension,brakes or tire work, then you forget the battery, obviously Once you have a good battery,then your check for OBD Fault Codes Your car won't start,problem,maybe just the battery The trans issue,once your past the battery & the motor runs,you check all data,road test & then get on with module codes & the trans problem, if there is one A failed battery will leave lots of wrong info in the systems

There are only two catalytic converters. They are of a high efficiency type and as such, they are tucked on each side of the engine directly bolted to the exhaust manifolds. You won't see them easily from underneath the car as you would on most vehicles. Item #1 and #11 in the diagram below are the catalytic converters.

Cheaper to just buy a new one.

Gearbox is a sealed unit now, from the factory, so no topping up possible.

Sounds like major problem in transmission.

It's worth replacing both anyway the sensor is part number XRB58222 at about £5.00 and the Pollen filter C2S8622 priced betwwen £12 and £20 both are simple changes.

in the end it may be you just need re gassing.

On the opposite side of the buttons or back side there is a small slot in the middle for a slotted screwdriver to be inserted and twisting it to either side will help to pry it open as this key is a two part body. you can also carefully insert a blade from a small knife to help separate the two halfs. Then, once separated, the half with the buttons is further a two part clam shells. So yo need to carefully use a slotted screwdriver or the blade. Just do not apply pressure towards your hand or body. Wiggle it to pry it open as it is pressured locked. Once you create a gap then work your way around it until it snaps apart. Once it is opened you expose the circuit board which is secured by a single small phillips head screw. Remove it and separate the board to expose the battery which is a 2032 3 volt round battery. positive is down towards the shell. Reverse the procedure to assemble and apply pressure with your fingers to snap the shells back. Cheers! You done it.

here is how: Push and hold the trip computer button on the left stalk, while holding the button turn the ignition ON and OFF several times untill you hear a confirmation tone from the glovebox area, when the tone is heard, release the button and remove the key from the ignition, immediately after push any button on the Key FOB and you'll hear another tone that confirms the programming.

It should. you might try popping it apart to speed the process.
