2001 Jaguar S-Type - Page 5 Questions & Answers
First time user, I have a stype v8 4litre 2001 model. Jaguar. Started miss firing. Had all coils changed car was fine, gear box lighT came on after a while, was intermittent But then stayed on all the
I will assume your cylinder misfire issue is gone
& all of the Emission Monitors run & all scan tool
data is okey, except for the transmission
I will also assume your continuing to drive the car,
knowing you have a transmission problem
I will also tell you that being a 2001,give mileage 150,000
plus, you have a failed transmission
I can be more specific & more detailed for the reasons why,
but all we can do here & most likely if we had the car,is to
pull trans & rebuild it, after some testing of the systems
If the trans has just been rebuilt & acting up,take it back
If your just dealing with a failed shift solenoid or sensor issue,
there is no way we can help in this format without a vehicle
Does it go into failsafe & other things
Once you drive with a trans issue, you ruin it in a few miles
or a few days
2001 jaguar s type. Check engine light. Pressure
check engine lights are a pain and unlucky there's no way to turn them off and pass inspection untill whatever the codes call for to be fix and jaguars are tough cars to work on and have expensive parts if you cant seems to get it fix i would suggest taking it to the dealer.
Where is the air flow meter located
Between the air filter and the throttle body. If the large plug is loose you will get a warning on the dash and it will go into limp home mode.
I have a read screen on my 2001 Jaguar S- Type that says " Fail Safe Engine Mode. What does it mean
Hi, fail safe engine mode means that the ECM (Electronic control module) or computer box as some know it, is running in a mode whereby it is bypassing a particular component in the engine that has gone faulty in order to keep the car from cutting out, or has picked up an erratic function in any component, which is more than likely an electrical problem and could be one of the following which have to be checked by computer analysis equipment at the Jaguar agents or any one else that is familiar with the process that is required to trace the fault. Here are the possible causes: 1.Erratic wire connection 2, Engine cooling Fan thermal switch. 3. Control module 4. CKP sensor 5. Computer box not functioning correctly (a rare fault) 6.Engine coolant fan not working, or running erratically. Unfortunately only a computer analyis will depict the location of the fault and if the repair man is very experienced will be able to sort it out quickly with the computer analysis.( Although I strongly suspect it to be the cooling fan thermal switch which is working erratically and will soon fail completely.)
So get your car to the experts as soon as possible especially if it could be the cooling fan thermal switch, which could cost you a major expensive engine repair job if your Jaguar overheats.
Have a good day.
Where is the EGR
Should be on top of the motor, not far from
the throttle body--Google a picture
Hard to miss it
Has a metal pipe, to bring heat from one of
the exhaust manifolds to it & a wire harness
& possibly vacuum hoses going to it
What could be the reason for heater not work on a 2001 S type Jaguar?
Hi, it sounds like the Blower or fan if you wish is not switching on. Check the fuse. If the fan is working and it's still not heating up, then it can only be a blockage somewhere in the water pipes of the heater, but you have changed the distribution valve, so I doubt it could be that unless of course you have forgotten to connect the steel cable to the valve or unless it is an electrically operated valve, then could be the current line to the valve is not connected, maybe a break in a wire or via a relay or fuse somewhere along the line, hence the reason for the valve being replaced in the first place. Typically of an electrically operated unit makes one think it's always the unit that is faulty, but meanwhile a simple connection failure caused by corroded bad contacts or a break in a wire(very seldom) is the real reason for failure.Just bear one important thing in mind...as a car gets older so will the electrical contacts in fuse boxes and relay fittings corrode or oxidize, that is why these components must always be serviced by cleaning out at least every five years, and, if you are living in a coastal area, at least every two years as oxidation and rust is more imminent..
I hope I have been of help to you,
Have a good day.
How to adjust hand brake
Some have adjustment under handle, some under the car on the e brake cable but most adjust when you adjust the rear brake shoes to the drums.
On a 2001 Jaguar S-Type What does it mean when you see air bag light on while driving
It means that the air bag diagnostic module has registered a problem in the system...either a bad impact sensor, bad air bag module, bad clock spring, bad pre tentioner....something in the system is not as it should be. You need to have the car hooked up to a diagnostic computer that can talk to the air bag processor to find out what the problem is.
Why does horn drain battery when not in use
there can only be 2 reasons for the battery to drain because of the horn or any other device connected to it:
1. the horn is on all the time (if you don't hear it it may still be on because of a short in the horn) 2. there is a short in the switch that turns on the horn
My alarm has just started going off....
On the left lower side of the drivers compartment by your left knee and the parking brake/ hood release you should see a little knob that controls how sensitive the car alarm is. If you turn it clockwise (right) it makes it more sensitive to the left (counter clockwise) less sensitive.Make it less sensitive so it won't cry. Hope this helps.
