You don't mention whether V6/8. However, the most expedient and accurate method of ascertaining the problem (s) is to have a Jaguar competent repair shop do a diagnostic computer check on the v ehicle.There could be one problem or more affecting the performance of the vehicle. A computer print out will eliminate a lot of guesswork and give you a realistic baseline to work from.

this is a easy one for me if you added any fluid via side fill bolt on the drivers side of the transmission , you add to much, if not most people will tell you it's your transmission..if you hear any noise coming from the front of your transmission were the transmission meets the engine.i will say it is your..... torque converter,not the transmission and do not let them tell you it is just to get more money out of you please, dealer keep telling me it was my transmission but it did not make since to me when my car was cold transmission worked fine till it got warm and a bad converter will take a few extra second longer to get in gear.... if drive does not work then you put it in 4th manually and the transmission drives good thru all gears ok then it is your torque converter. torque converter

under the left hand front wheel arch area,

loosen the two screws on the catch and raise it up just a bit. It would be on the car not the lid. re tighten the screws

First check the door seals, window seals, window alignment in the window seal and sunroof seal and alignment (if applicable)

get a scan tool and reset or i always unhooked the battery.

The cable is accessed from the boot! No manual release but by removing the boot trim behind the petrol flap you will be able to reach the cable and pull on it to release the flap....probably just needs the cable lubricating with WD40!

If there is no obvious water leaks on the ground then the engine is burning the coolant. Watch the tail pipe to see if water drips from it. Pressure test the cooling system to see if it will hold pressure. If it won't then take out all the spark plugs to see which cylinder the coolant is leaking into and why.

i would get the OBD codes read , i expect it is the starter inhibitor switch but the codes will tell you

that would mean water got in or cavitation ,observe fluid while running if it looks foamy that would mean air traped in system and is being wiped up

ideally you need to connect it to an analyser, engine technology is becoming a pain in the proverbial, it could be anything from a failed fuel pump. (low pressure) to computer (engine management) problem, if you have checked for the obvious, vaccuum hoses etc, diagnostic is in the long term the easiest, quickest and most cost effective route. I suspect Fuel pump, check manual for pressure testing fuel delivery.

the best advice I can give you at this stage is ask a knowledgable friend to have a look at it and suggest what to do .. that's not a silly answer, if the battery is flat the first thing will be to re-charge it again to diagnose the problem ..

Turn the steering wheel back and forth some. Also it could be your gear selector (if automatic). Maybe it thinks your not in Park.
