1999 jaguar xj8 when engine is switch off water
Hi! Only one thing can cause this. The coolant reservoir is not sitting on the right level. The coolant should be filled and sit only on the max or full level. If its above the right level it tends to overflow. HOpe this helps and thank you for using FixYa!
Cant get my 99 xj8 out of valet mode, and my trunk will not open.
There are Valet keys (often with a green knob) that will
only unlock
the front doors and the ignition but not the
glove box nor
boot/trunk.
When either the front door locks or the console
button is
pressed, all the doors should lock. Likewise, when either
front
door is unlocked, all the doors fuel filler lid and if
selected, the
boot will also unlock.
Boot lock has three positions. Unlocked
to the left,
automatic with the doors in the center, always locked to
the
right. Simply remove the key in what ever position you desire.
The
locks can get confused and not work correctly. Simply
sit in the
car and manually lock all the doors. That will
usually get the
locking module sane again.

You can do a fluid and filter change on it. Over time tranny fluid gets pretty hot and can burn up and not be as effective. Clean fluid can make the world of a difference when you catch it early enough.
Another thing I recomend to a lot of clients and use myself, is Lucas Oil, tranny treatment, it is just a bottle of fluid you dump in the tranny and it reinforces the old seals and inproves lubrication under most conditions. You can buy a bottle of it at just about any auto parts store, or even Walmart for about $15.
Best of Luck....

I have a 1999 Jaguar XJ8, there is a Check Engine
the gas gauge is not related, that would be a defective gas gauge sending unit in the gas tank, the check engine light indicates that one of around 200 poss faults has occured in the electronic engine controls, you will need to have the OBD 2 engine control system tested for the fualt code that is stored when the light is turned on.
